It may be recency bias, but man Blair can really talk the talk. I feel much better about the state of our program. I think given the success he had at Toledo, we’re probably in good hands here

I’ll be curious to see what happens because based on Blair’s reputation he doesn’t strike me as the type to lie or mislead. If he says no candidate said No then I believe him.

I get that the resources aren’t where they need to be but a better coach could have done more with what we had this year. I love Autry as a player and program guy but he just wasn’t a good head coach. It happens.

No way he turns it down, but after not getting enough consideration last time around he might want to savor it a bit and make everyone sweat.

I could see myself doing something petty in that situation, like telling my agent to do the math and add enough money to the deal to make every paycheck end in 0,381.78.

No way is Blair going to lie. Isn't it possible though that we contacted Hodgson about interest. Communication happened back and forth. He's asked what he believes he needs in order to be successful. His ask is too much and we don't think he will come down on it much so we eventually say thanks but no thanks? In this case, there wouldn't really be rejection from either party.

It is a little funny to me a few days ago a lot of people wanted to dunk on providence for thinking they had a chance and BH and SU hd been locked in on each other for a year and what are the odds usf is in buffalo this week and providence was just being used as leverage and then actually we never really wanted him that badly anyway.

Yeah a lot of ways this could have played out in reality. There was def a ton of activity by BHs people behind the scenes for sure followed by a disappointing show against a undermanned Louisville squad. Anyways whoever can get the money we need seems is going to be our guy and not Hop so … we shall see how it all goes.

You can’t turn down a job you weren’t offered. Claiming you turned it down is a lie. Period.

The more likely scenario is that Providence made an offer, it was over market, and we didn’t want to match or escalate. So if the primary driver is money (and for an agent it always is), then the writing is on the wall.

But you have to be offered to turn something down. He wasn’t.

The other thing to consider is that there may have been a major gap between BH and other Providence candidates and if we were taking our time to offer, then it’s pretty clear we had other comparable (from our perspective) candidates. For them, their eggs may have been firmly in his basket, which makes you have to pay up.
