That looks like the 2024 number from Orange United. The number I was told for this year was $4.5MM. Believe that includes Vegas money but not revenue sharing.
Yeah, that’s last year’s number. And as you know, the goal was to double that 2 to 2 1/2 million. A confidential survey of which I’m sure not every school responded to show the ACC is having an average NIL of 4.1 million per team. So 4.55 would put us just inside the top half. The SEC was at 7.1 while the Big Ten and big 12 at about 5.4 and 4.4 respectively. So we’re behind a lot of schools not just in the ACC but across the country. So NIL will play a role into what coaching candidates will see as you as a strong option. We will be looked at as a good opportunity by some, but not all. It would be nice if some big donor stepped up and helped almost double that again. Heck a number of schools were over 10 million including some of the ACC. It’s too simple to say hire the right coach. Maybe that right Coach is fine being middle of the pack NIL but it sure would help to be able to open up that aperture.

I heard we were getting close to 4 from revenue sharing. If that’s the case it’s more than enough for this year specifically and that’s not a funding problem.
Every school’s getting that though. Every school gets a maximum of 20 million. And the general thought is schools are going to put 70 to 80% into football and then about 15% towards basketball. With the rest being split up by all the other sports. So it’s pretty much a wash amongst all schools when you talk about the revenue sharing. The differentiator will be NIL.

Not every school was giving as much to bball as we are. Last I knew we were giving 1.5-2 million more compared to other schools.

I don't know, but if true that would put us at about 25% which is huge but hurts the football team.

Actually, it's exactly that simple.

Success begats success. It also begats increased contributions to NIL funding.

Tired of the excuses, and the negative self talk about not being able to compete. Tell that to all of the teams playing at a high level with fewer resources than what Syracuse has with respect to NIL.

Just another preemptive excuse.

No one is making excuses for Red. That ship has sailed and it’s time for a change.
But more needs to be done to fully turn the program around,

That is 100% correct. Obviously on a much smaller scale, but as I stated last year, one of my good friends is extremely close to former UAlbany coach Will Brown. Will told my buddy that Gmac is Siena’s first choice but he demanded a certain amount of money for NIL. Apparently Siena asked for a select number of days (not sure the exact number) to figure out if they can meet that demand. During those few days, Will told my buddy that he might get the Siena job out of default IF Siena couldn’t get the money secured. How wild is that?!
Yeah, that basically the way it works now in most cases. Coaches don’t take a gig if they don’t think the money is there to compete.

I’ll also say, having a high profile dad and his disgruntled son in the mix won’t help our cause.

One of the reasons why I was in favor of letting Red go in the middle of the season. Right or wrong on the bench, the media will not look at it that way it will be bad pub for us yet again.

My personal stance on the Kiyan thing is that he needed tough coaching and should have had his minutes cut earlier in the year for bad shots etc but it is too late in the season to do that. This late in the season, when you are playing for nothing, it accomplishes nothing but makes you look like you don't know what you are doing. And all you are doing now is bringing bad public attention to your most popular player and putting a fraction in a relationship that didn't need to have any friction.

Making excuses = rationalizing that we don't have enough resources, so we can't succeed...

We can be a competitive program again. We just need a better coach to reverse the decline and re-engage the fanbase.

I'm tired of the defeatism, before we even try.

Ok. Peace.,

This is my exact problem with these threads. Maybe we don't have enough NIL to be a top 5 team, maybe not even a top 25 team at this point. But we certainly have enough to make the tournament with the right coach. We need to stop making preemptive excuses and use our strengths to attract a high quality coach and go from there. LGO!

40 years in financial sales and I learned one thing for certain. When it is raining, people think the sun is never going to shine again. Conversely, when the sun is out, people think it is never going to rain again. We will be good again.

You disagreed with anything in my last post?

Therein lies the disconnect.

I look forward to the next coach, a properly vetted and qualified candidate, proving me right. And demonstrating to the fanbase that fielding a competitive program with quality play doesn't require a $10M expenditure or bust.
You’re talking like people are talking all or nothing. Nobody is doing that. Nobody. But your acting like nil plays no role. It plays a role and could narrow the field for us. Doesn’t mean we can’t get a good coach who can turn this thing around but it could sure narrow the field. You keep twisting what people are saying.

Let's hope so. 🍊🏀🍊

Don't know if it's been mentioned and pardon my unstudied take, but I don think any of the assistants bring much value to the program. Recruiting, coaching up etc. Of course if they were wining I'd be silent on the issue.

Please demonstrate how I'm acting like nil plays no role.

That is a complete false attribution on your part. I'm just correctly pointing out it's not the debilitating detriment / insurmountable obstacle that some are claiming.

Spot on.

Tired of the self-deprecating narratives. Get the hire right, the results will turn around.

This is why I am hoping we bring in an experienced coach. Yes the NIL and resources matter but we need someone who will build a program. All the things that have been neglected over the last decade.
