I see that perspective and in my more optimistic moments, I agree. The problem is if people are only talking about giving NIL money so "their guy" gets the job. Then, they don't actually follow through. There are a lot of basketball alums who love to talk about this stuff and I never hear about them giving significant money.

And if I am really being honest with myself, a lot of this is simply a gut feeling. The thought of GMac sulking on the bench during a bunch of losses while the fanbase turns on him flashes through my mind a lot. I still believe he is a risky hire.

I don’t cause he isn’t the sulking kind. Red kinda is and I love red as a player. Gmac is too hardnosed to sulk.

If Gerry fails you can put a stake in the program. Because a bad hire this time and the fans aren't ever coming back. If this ends up being another screwup, then I'll stick with football, and womens basketball.
A 13th year of bad basketball at the age of 80 is enough, especially when during the time when I was a teenager we lost 27 in a row.

This has been like a presidential primary. A lot of fighting but when it gets down to the winner, we all need to get behind that winner and do whatever we can to get this team over the finish line.

Unfortunately, the need to be right online will almost certainly outweigh that. The ‘I told you so’s’ will start flying as soon as possible.

GT hasn’t been good at basketball in 20 years, haven’t made the tournament as an at large since 2010, and has no NIL support. They definitely don’t care about basketball which instantly makes them a worse job

They won the ACC title in 2021. Hodgson made a lateral move and stayed in a mid major conference.
