Coach Search Options after Autry

I bet if we all throw our unused hift cards in the middle we could buy out Red's contract.

I got gift cards from Lord & Taylor, Sharper Image, Bed Bath & Beyond, Blockbusters, Kmart, Sears & more.

Correction, the BB&B is not a gift card, just a 25% off coupon, but it should count for something. I got some Harbor Freight stuff too.
NIL - Name, Image...and Low low prices!!!

Whoa! Let’s look at the facts. Having said that. No one is happy wit last year. Red’s first followed turmoil after hall o fame coach was poorly handled by administration. Red was thrown in under not great circumstances of Jim B departure. Red had some talent in year 1, however, he had a team full of head cases. Judah was one dimensional (couldn’t shoot) Brll great shooter but also a head case bBennu do I need to mention Benny. Malik Brown played out of position all year. Not even close to Taylor who at 6’5” was asked to play way out of position. Starling who was still recovering from shoulder surgery. I didn’t even mention Copeland who just wouldn’t listen to Red. And yet the won 20 games first time I’m 3 years. 2024 was a disaster. No $ support. Portal fire sale players not Reds fault. No tiki no washie. No money to fill hole. MIt is my feeling that Red tried too often different combinations looking for continuity nseconfbyear coach. No bullets in his gun. Not all his fault. Now it’s NCAa or he’s gone. Very unfair. Red has brought in very solid if not recruiting classes last tow years. Had a better budget this year but still not in top 30 nationally. It is my feeling he did a good job. However he was still 3-5 million short times to be in big boy NIL. Again it no Red. Jimmy B had not been to recruit SU type players his last couple of years. I think if Red can win 20+ games this year, SU needs to honor his contract.
Have to make the tournament to extend even
If an 11 seed.

If were dependent on Melo's money and im JW, I communicate with Melo and ask how much do you see yourself involved in the program during and after Kiyans time in the program?

If he promises to contribute $, I then ask, what's your thoughts on the current coaching situation? Stay the path or make a change?

Can you work back channel communications to get an upgrade at coach from either college or the NBA? Can you contribute to the cost to make that happen?
Carmelo Anthony earned an estimated $262 million in his 19-year NBA career, not including endorsements. His career earnings, combined with endorsement deals, are estimated to be around $410 million. He is also known for his successful investments, including stakes in companies like Panini, Isotonix, and Foot Locker, which have significantly increased his overall net worth. Google

And Foot Locker stock went up hugely with the recent purchase of the company by Sporting Goods.

Our biggest mistake was not paying Jessie - think that team could’ve done damage with him
We paid him, just not his newest asking price. He did miss 9 games for WVU because of injury too and averaged more than 4 minutes less per game in the games that he did play in, than he did his last year at SU. He would have been a factor here for sure if he stayed but it’s purely hypothetical how much. WVU had a worse season than we did with Jesse in 2023-2024 (9-23 and 13th in the Big 12).

In answer to the Original Question, I'm sure the University already has a list possible replacements. Personally I think that with the list of players coming in this year Red deserves the right to show SU what he can or cannot do with this team. I don't think there is any reason to hash this out till we play the majority of the season out and than make a decision.. Give the guy a break.

Huggins had his incident and was forced out right before Jesse got there. If i remember correctly, about half the team transferred out after that
The situation worked out badly for both Jesse and Syracuse.

Won’t need the majority of the season to play out. We’ll know by December whether or not we’ll need to make a move.

I think the triggering update was merely to confirm what some of us said, and others continually rejected, as the amount the coach is being paid (I.e., less than many contended). The thought of higher compensation provided the basis for attempting to calculate the cost of a buyout, which was alleged to be too large a sum and not affordable by SU. In fact, the coach was not going to be let go no matter which calculation was being used. He was always going to get at least three years.

All that said, just hoping for a good season next time out — on the right side of the bubble and not on the bubble.

How would have helped the disaster that was the last off season leading to the even worse disaster that was last season? Red’s gotta prove that he can coach beyond a ymca rec league with one practice a week level. His sub patterns and defensive strategies are about that level.

We may even have a good idea after the first game, especially if it's LeMoyne.

Jesse didn’t play last year…

Perhaps, but let's see what happens at the end of the season, as talk is just that.

A serious program will make a move if warranted.

An unserious program will find an excuse not to with a moderately-improved bubble-busted team, for example.

I really don't know which program we are at this point, so this year could be very telling.

No, you have to give it the first 10 games or so, at a minimum.
Last year, we played 11 games before Christmas, and then 2 more before New Year's.

Six were against "lesser" teams, all of which we won, if a couple were "just barely". And we lost to all 5/7 of the P5 teams we played, with only 4 of the 7 games being close.

So, by Christmas / New Year's, we don't have the schedule yet, but we can figure 6 or 7 tomato cans, but not too lowly rated, and we need to win by 20, not 2-6 points.

As for the P5 games, we have be at break even, and we have to be generally competitive. Decent looking, functional defense, and guys creating shots for each other, rebounding, running, motion on offense.

We should have a pretty good idea by then. I'm hoping for the best. It would be best for SU for Autry to turn it around, win 25 games and get a 8 seed in the NCAA tournament. That would be great.

My point is that in retrospect we really knew how the season was going to go just from the team's struggles in its very first game vs. LeMoyne. That may not always be the case but it was this past year.

Saw Coach Jack made a number of staff moves today. Do you think Red makes any staff moves soon?
