Chestnut Hill is gorgeous? My son is a student at BC Law and Chestnut Hill/Newton is overly expensive, full of construction, and nowhere to park. They have a Wegmans, but it’s so small and overpriced. Give me Dewitt, Fayetteville or Manlius any dayHave also lived in all three places. Agree that Capital Region and CNY might have specific draws for Gerry given family/community ties, but Boston with money is a totally different experience. Boston is a major city and Chestnut Hill is gorgeous, offers great schools, and easy access to all of New England and NY.
USF on ESPN2
Yeah why live in the burbs of one of the best cities in the country when you can live in the burbs of Syracuse NY?Chestnut Hill is gorgeous? A nice house in Newton costs $2-3M and the same house in Fayetteville is $600KYeah why live in the burbs of one of the best cities in the country when you can live in the burbs of Syracuse NY?
I don't think the head basketball coach at BC is worried about that.A nice house in Newton costs $2-3M and the same house in Fayetteville is $600K
Hey!!I don't think the head basketball coach at BC is worried about that.
Personally? I'd rather have a smaller house in Newton than live in Fayetteville.
I love that Bryan Hodgson looks like the head of security for a Colombian drug lord. Sign me up.
GMAC is a small town boy. Like Boeheim. You like what you know and feel comfortable with.I don't think the head basketball coach at BC is worried about that.

Agree on Hodgson. I think ultimately he gets the job because he wants it and understands what he's getting into. Having the support of Lally is a building block that perhaps others don't have.I happen to think BH is the leader in the clubhouse right now. But Gerry is very much in contention. There is also believe it or not, a question whether Gerry would take the job.
All of this sounds like another reason why somehow having Autry back with a less NIL budget would be an absolute disaster.Agree on Hodgson. I think ultimately he gets the job because he wants it and understands what he's getting into. Having the support of Lally is a building block that perhaps others don't have.
The first question any candidate has about us, is our NIL budget. I don't think GMAC is convinced we have what it take$ to compete in the ACC consistently. He's not alone. It's a concern others have.
Anybody who thinks someone is going to take this job and worry about the NIL after is grossly out of touch with today's environment.
Let me short circuit those who think i'm blaming this year's results on NIL. I'm not. We have the players this year to compete. We had the NIL last off season to compete. Its coaching failure that we're not in the ncaa tourney discussion.
But the next guy might not have last year's NIL budget. He might not have Alex Kline to lean into. He's going to have a new AD (that likely will not have the support to move in a different direction at his immediate discretion though).
We have a challenge ahead of us.
I'd love to hear your reasoning why it's a no brainer. I would take Albany or Syracuse over Boston any day. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in the Capital Region and CNY to offset anything Boston can offer.
we have several here who don't think it'll be a consideration at all for candidates. i said the same thing you have here, and several shot it down. its one of the first questions most candidates would ask for almost any hc job. it has to be.The first question any candidate has about us, is our NIL budget. I couldn't agree with your post more. I know in my case, I'm not giving my opinions on this. This is what I have been told by people that are in a position to know.Agree on Hodgson. I think ultimately he gets the job because he wants it and understands what he's getting into. Having the support of Lally is a building block that perhaps others don't have.

That is because people still think we are the Syracuse of 15 years ago. I believe we can be again. But that isn't how we are viewed today by coaches out there. We have alums that are reluctant to take the job.we have several here who don't think it'll be a consideration at all for candidates. i said the same thing you have here, and several shot it down. its one of the first questions most candidates would ask for almost any hc job. it has to be.
Honestly, I don't see how Autry back is even possible. The donors would just dry up. I suppose if we went on a run the likes of which no one could envision as being remotely possible. All of this sounds like another reason why somehow having Autry back with a less NIL budget would be an absolute disaster.
Is that directed at me? Because I'm calling BS on that interpretation. What I said is that the capability to have baseline NIL resources is in place at Syracuse University, and will improve if a coach can deliver a winning product on the court. The failure our program is experiencing is one of coaching. NIL resources are not a systemic weakness that can't be provided.we have several here who don't think it'll be a consideration at all for candidates. i said the same thing you have here, and several shot it down. its one of the first questions most candidates would ask for almost any hc job. it has to be.
Do you think if the next HC is able to get positive results with the NIL situation being what it is, that the budget would grow as a result? Is there potential for it to improve or do you see a hard ceiling? That is because people still think we are the Syracuse of 15 years ago. I believe we can be again. But that isn't how we are viewed today by coaches out there. We have alums that are reluctant to take the job.
I actually do think that if we were winning, money would flow in. That is just my opinion. People want to be part of winning and success.Do you think if the next HC is able to get positive results with the NIL situation being what it is, that the budget would grow as a result? I'd like to think getting some positive mo back would bring some money into the program again to charge things.
Of course.I actually do think that if we were winning, money would flow in. That is just my opinion. People want to be part of winning and success.
Alums-plural. Yes.That is because people still think we are the Syracuse of 15 years ago. I believe we can be again. But that isn't how we are viewed today by coaches out there. We have alums that are reluctant to take the job.
FAU is not an easy place to play since Dusty May. Maybe not as tough as the peak of their success, but that building is still intimate and loud.Wow nice gutty win on the road for USF and Hodgson when their offensive players were terrible
