Why are you fearful of him recruiting? That’s a strength of his. His nickname on the recruiting trail is the shark. He got a number of top recruits to Bama and might have gotten Donnie to Bama if he hadn’t left for Arkansas state.

we have several here who don't think it'll be a consideration at all for candidates. i said the same thing you have here, and several shot it down. its one of the first questions most candidates would ask for almost any hc job. it has to be.

Gerry has done nothing that compares to any of that besides having a nice second season at Siena a place that has a pretty solid program historically and playing his college basketball at Syracuse. His resume isn't close.

He’s gotten solid level talent as an head coach at Arkansas State and USF considering the conference level. But as an assistant he has gotten 5 stars. Nate Oates didn’t get top talent as a head coach until he moved up a level to Alabama.

It’s extremely difficult in the NIL era for schools like South Florida Bulls and Arkansas State Red Wolves to recruit elite, NBA-level talent. That said, from watching the games, it’s clear this roster has multiple players who look capable of playing at the P4 level. That’s exactly what I look for in a high-level recruiter at programs with those limitations. It also appears there has been less emphasis on high-school recruiting, which may be a deliberate roster-construction choice. At schools like this, building through the transfer portal often makes more sense given retention issues and the need for immediate contributors at school like those.

----Nelson would be the conference Player of the Year if the season ended today. I believe he’s out of eligibility, but I think he has a legitimate chance to get drafted, particularly if he performs well at NBA pre-draft combine.

----Enis looks like a clear P4-level player. He reminds me of Kingz, possibly more advanced offensively, though not nearly as good on the defensive side of the ball.

----Pinion I think could be P4 rotational piece. He may not be a starter at a high-level program, but he looks like someone who could play meaningful minutes in a strong rotation

I have no doubt he recruited well with Alabama as an ass't coach. I was questioning the statement that he recruited top tier talent. I just wanted to know what top tier talent he has recruited as a Head Coach. He has a first place team. Obviously, these guys are playing well.
