I think it carries a little more weight than a bottom of the barrel bowl game considering you likely need to go through UNC, Louisville/Virginia and then Duke

No. Us winning the ACC tournament would be miles ahead of going 6-6 in football. Let's talk sense. Don't worry about it though. Could anyone see this team winning two games in a row in the ACC tournament? Let along 4 or 5

I meant in general terms...

I would hope the powers that be would look past some strange one off in the ACCT tournament and do what still needs to be done because even if we somehow made a miraculous run in the ACCT it doesn't change the fact Red is a terrible coach.

Just like make a stupid bowl game was no reason to keep Dino

OSU yes... Oregon maybe? I don't know what kid wants to sign up for school in Oregon only to spend all winter in the midwest? If Oregon was going to be a national power they would have been by now. Phil Knights money was always there in a much easier conference and they were never really a national threat under Altman other than two years of a f4 and elite 8

And while the board is in love with BH, I think part of that is that he 1. isn't Red. And 2. gets his team to play hard. But 12 or 13 years ago, would a guy that hasn't one a game in the NCAA tournament be enough? I don't think so. And the other candidates, oh boy. I have said this part out loud many of time and what scares me the most. And probably why I am fixated on BH at this point.

Thanks. The original message was confusing in how it was worded. I’ve heard some things as well and think we’ll be happy with who we get, even if it’s not the top name we would have gotten 10 years ago.

At this point it would be just taking current apathy and making it permanent vs temporary vs being any kind of bomb drop in my view. Honestly not surprising that we aren’t generating a ton of interest given the trends for both major sports.

To be fair, Hodgson is one of the hottest names in the country for all gigs, not just ours. And his interest in the position makes it all the more crucial for the AD to take advantage of this opportunity to get him, especially if the rest of the candidates are not up to snuff, as you mention.

It was probably worse even 3 years ago. We can’t lose out on Hodgson.

Well, I will give you this, in my opinion, he is the best of the lot by a large margin. Could someone else emerge . Of course. I hope so.

The top 25 salaries range from $3.8mm (Greg Gard Wisconsin)at 25 to over $8mm to Bill Self at Kansas. Only 12 coaches make over $5mm.
To me if Syracuse was "cheap" it would have to be less than $2mm maybe?
It is generally believed Red is making around $3mm per year. That means Syracuse would only be off $800k to be paying one of the top 25 salaries. Which they could easily accommodate.
