Coach Search Options after Autry

Well if we need to hire Hop in order to lure Murray…… we’re already in a lose-lose scenario. Assuming Murray was someone we were interested but that’s besides the overall point.
I can't possibly fathom in any world where Murray leaves UCONN to become an assistant coach somewhere else. That doesn't even make sense in my opinion. Only way I could see him leaving would be to become head coach somewhere

If it's wrong for us then it's likely wrong for everyone else on the list. Which makes the "tiers" useless.
i didnt say its wrong. just clarifying its only nil for all schools as its titled. i actually believe its pretty close.

Wow-7 dislikes. That's got to be a record here. Why do you think he would "make a great coach for Syracuse" when he struggled so much at Washington with some very good NBA-to be players?
Update: 16 dislikes and 1 angry. This record could last longer than DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak.

He wouldn’t make a great coach for anyone. Based on track record, he is as qualified as the guy that’s getting fired. Why go with the same thing we have?
I am not in favor of Coach Hopkins being the hire.
In fact, if we absolutely have to hire an alumni, I would go with GMAC.

However, lets not insult Hop by saying he is no better than Red. He did win Pac 12 coach of the year his first two years so he must know the Xs and Os to some extent. Even his last 3 years at Wash he had either a winning record or a break even.

I dont know enough about BH to know if he is the slam dunk coach many here are saying.
I just know this hire has to be about what is between the coach's ears, not how many dollars he brings in the door.
Red has proven that you can have good talent but you need to know how to coach in order to make the best use of them.
As was said in a different thread, I dont think anyone believes that Red could have accomplished as much with the Siena roster as Gerry has done. Again, we need a coach with a definite offensive and defensive game plan, someone who can watch what is happening live and make changes in game or at half time, and someone who knows how and when to make substitutions.
And someone who will change the culture so that players will work hard and never surrender on the court.
They need to be tough, not the cream puffs currently wearing SU uniforms.
I dont include Kyle or Kingz in the cream puff description, even White to some extent.
But the rest, dont care or only care about themselves.

One thing that's abundantly clear is that we're going to see the fanbase tear itself apart arguing over the coach for a month.

Sometimes I envy the $EC and B$G for not having to deal with this mess. They just hire the most sought after and expensive coach on the market without all the process and concern. If it doesn't work they just bounce them out the door a year or two later, pay the buyout and move on to the next and the next.

Their fanbases don't care because it's alot easier to live with things going bad because they bought the most expensive product that everyone else wanted to.

We sit here being told things didn't happen they way they should because XYZ but then we look back and are like well we paid a coach no one else wanted. What did we expect.

I really hope we don't repeat history taking a coach that is desperate because they have no other options. Are we really the right place to rebound careers or even start careers? I think not.

I’m sorry, SEC and B1G fan bases don’t care about coach hiring? I’m gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there.

Let's do Co-Coaches. One handles big Picture and one handles day to day

You’re spouting nonsense now.

Would love that. As an alum, it’s tough to watch them right now

Being from 20 miles south growing up and being on campus and at many games before relocating south it’s a shame they can’t get rolling. Plenty of hoops fans, a really nice venue for a low major and a nice area to be in ( specifically near campus not necessarily Bingo area as a whole).
