Coach Search Options after Autry

$15 million would give him likely a top 5 war chest in CBB. He definitely didn’t have that at Washington (keep in mind NIL wasn’t a thing in the beginning of his tenure there). It would be hard to say let’s not role the dice in that scenario. But this is all just pretend. My point is that there are so many unknowns right now.
Got it. You want a Cuse guy for some dumb reason. Move on. Hodgson.

Just want to put it out there that the University will push every narrative they can to make it seem like they made the right hire...

There's no defending the decision if you decide to go with the guy that has proven to be a losing coach over the up-and-coming hot name on the trail coach that has only succeeded at multiple stops and is getting looks from many other high-major jobs. Oh yeah, and that guy also desperately wants to come here. If Hopkins gets the job, we all know why, and it's not because he was the best option.

It's been proven time and time again that it does not matter how much money the coach has. If they aren't good, they won't win. Not to mention when a coach starts losing, all that "money" that they seemed to have starts disappearing.

Also, a good administration finds a way to get the donors behind the guy they choose. They don't let a donor put them in an ultimatum to choose the guy they want.

I agree, I have said many times that only Syracuse can mess this up. The Hodgson hire is just too easy and straightforward; it shouldn't even be an issue, but it is Syracuse, and they have to find ways to make the easy difficult.

He did, but what he has planned for the next couple is monumental
I’m seeing it now - bringing the banana boat crew to Cuse

Chris Paul at PG, D Wade at SG, Melo at SF, LeBron at PF, throw in Dwight Howard at Center (they all lobby for college eligibility)

Kiyan off the bench as 6th man

Still 6th in the ACC with Hop as coach

We need to face reality here you have our most celebrated player in basketball history arguably who has his son on the team that may prefer hop from what I’m gathering and assist in putting a winning team together? I don’t see how Syracuse uppers says no to that….I just think given this variable it’s a far bigger chip that plays a huge part in this entire process. Hard to deny it but we will see how it plays out

Agree with this from a fundamental view point and I personally don't care who gets hired or know anything but.. You can't have influential and high net worth type people "involved" only when you want them to be. The large chunks of $ comes with influence and power and it comes to the forefront at times like these and now more than ever considering what NCAA basketball has become.

Easy and Straight forward would be nice but it's far from that all things considered.

Didn’t we do just that this season? We got an infusion of money, signed precisely the roster that the staff wanted… and kersplatt. The horrendous coaching dragged down the talented roster.

Man, it’s like this season never happened.
And if you pay the wrong pg

Well..

If we’re looking at somewhere between 15 to 20 million, annually and committed, in additional NIL funding above what we currently have…

If thats in the cards

I’d take Hop surrounded by top tier assistants if we cant get near the same with other candidates.

Have Hop be CEO. Its 2026. Money turns programs around on a dime quicker than anything else. Thats exactly what Jim Boeheim would tell you, whether talking about SU’s future or college basketball in general.

A good coach can struggle with a limited war chest in the P4. A bad coach can make the tournament while funded. It’s a horrible time in sports. Evolve or die.

*ducks*

He's referring to Hop today being desperate and Autry who if we cleaned house 3 years ago, was not in demand for head coaching jobs.
Hop is employed today so not sure how desperate he really is but if he's trying to leverage BC against us I'd tell him goodluck with the BC interview.
Hop trying to use BC as leverage is me pretending to date Heather Lyke to make Sydney Sweeney jealous.

We aren’t winning with Hop no matter how much money he has.
Id rather BH… by a lot.

But it’s hard to make this statement if the magnitude of the mentioned NIL funding is a possibility. That’d allow for top tier assistants and portal talent. Thats whats needed in this environment. The games degraded to this point and will continue to get worse.

BH will do fine with NIL. He has everywhere. Hop is illiterate when it comes to offense. It would be an abomination of a hire.
