Coach Search Options after Autry

What if Hodgson and Schertz both miss the tournament? What if McNamara takes Siena to the Sweet 16? What if Hopkins comes with a $15 million per year NIL war chest for a guaranteed number of years? I’ve resigned myself to just waiting for a few more weeks and we’ll find out the answer soon enough.
Even if Hopkins came up with 15 mil he has proven that he doesn’t know how to distribute it well. He had great resources at Washington and couldn’t win

that seems extreme

The university looks at the entire amount they are on the hook for though. And yes it is 3.5-$4m to hire a top coach so are they going to shell that out? What if Hodgson says that’s what he deserves. There’s no way SU is making a $20m commitment to the guy. Hence why these others are in the conversation. They want to be at $2m a year. They have always been at $2m a year. Problem is $2m a year is a joke when you look at average salaries for these coaches these days. BH makes about $750-1m from what I researched tax free in Florida. But he’s going to get some offers that far exceed $2m a year and that’s where there is going to be a problem for cuse
Is this inside information that you’re sharing? Or are you just speculating? I just want to be clear. You don’t think SU is ready to pay the going rate for a one of the top mid major head coaches on the market? (Not talking about an existing P5 coach.) Wildhack and the administration knew last year that they might have to fire Red after this season and hire a new coach. I can’t imagine they didn’t prepare for what it would cost. This is bizarre.

Said it before and I will say it again this season's conference tournaments and March Madness will not factor into the decision. More then likely, the decision will already be made before that.
So if McNamara makes it to the Elite 8, we just disregard that completely? The hype around him would be unreal and donors would be stepping up. Seems like a long shot but look at what St. Peter’s did.

$15 million would give him likely a top 5 war chest in CBB. He definitely didn’t have that at Washington (keep in mind NIL wasn’t a thing in the beginning of his tenure there). It would be hard to say let’s not role the dice in that scenario. But this is all just pretend. My point is that there are so many unknowns right now.

My point is Their fanbases don’t sit around arguing what coaching hire has the least downside. They just pay for the best coach on the market or overpay to steal a proven coach.

Are you reading the messages here? It’s even worse on the usual social media how all over the place our fanbase is reasoning out which coach “they can live with”.
Tell me, who is “that coach” this year? Who is everyone looking at ? Schertz ? there really isn’t that many

Melo really wants to do this…. Even if Melo funds the dream team for Kiyan with Hopkins, thinking upwards of 20 million before you even get to the staff pool to make that possible. What happens when Kiyan leaves. What’s the plan for Hopkins? What if the 20 million roster doesn’t produce. Let’s see another national championship Melo if you’re going to put this program revival chance at risk with passing on most likely the better coach long term in Hodgson.

I worry about this too - the big $ support is short-lived, only as long as Kiyan is here plus required then to play him 35 mins a game

Siena has to make tourney first
That’s no guarantee right there

What’s the over/under on driving to the basket resulting in a TO over 35 mins of play?
