Notice how often the size of the buy-out is listed as a factor in a coach's retaining his job.
And thankfully Red’s is minuscule comparatively. He’s only making $1.5 million/year.

Yes, this is what we need! More casual fans need to know the shenanigans and be introduced to who the top candidates are and should be.

“Dispatch, we have an O-79 infraction in this thread. Sherman said Shenanigans, so we’re pulling him over. Over?”

dip into the billion plus endowment for a new coach since bball helps facilitate its local and national growth
Seriously, what's withdrawing 20 million from the endowment if it generates more in the tv and marketing returns?

Look, I known nothing about endowments, except for my own (sarcasm font), but for the last time can we please stop saying SU can do this. Enough people here in the know have told us that this cannot and will not happen not only at Syracuse but any academic institution. Good lord, it’s like a broken record.

It was literally just discussed for days.

Syracuse expected to make an AD hire before March 10th. The start of the ACC tournament. Norlander implores Syracuse to make an outside hire.

From the article - "lest it risk becoming just another average power-conference team"

We've already become worse than that.

can't unless the person that endowed it earmarked athletics which doesn't happen in the general endowment.

I brought this name up a few weeks ago and man have they gone on a roll. Faroukmanesh has Colorado State streaking. Went into the Pit tonight and beat up New Mexico. thats 8 wins in a row, 20-10, 11-8 in the Mountain West. Not bad for a first year coach. I seriously doubt he would leave but I just like watching that team play.

How’s his offense look? Do they screen and get good movement? He did inherit a good program and situation from Niko Medved, who had built CSU into a MWC stalwart over several years. I also think they have good resources.

Marginal revolution today has a blurb about universities running down their endowments

Raiding the principal defeats the purpose of it

Niko Medved should get votes for B1G coach of the year for what he has done to get Minnesota to 7-12 in that conference this season. Minnesota has lost 4 of their top players to season-ending injuries and has played with only 6 scholarship players for the past month. Only 7 players have played more than 10 games.

Medved is a great example of how a great X and O coach that can be a big positive influence on a program that doesn't pay big NIL money.

What's the purpose of it if you're never going to spend it?
