Yesterday, Schertz and SLU got rolled by George Mason by 29.

Today, Hodgson and USF, play Charlotte at 2 pm and are favored by 16.5.

GMAC won by 5 and the Hopkins led team was scratched in the paddock.

Are you just speculating? Or have you heard something? I do think he could be a huge upside hire, ala Tommy Lloyd. He’s been intimately involved in running a championship level program for years and is UConn’s offensive mastermind, but he’s still a risk with no prior head coaching experience. I gotta believe it’ll be Hodgson in the end.

Nope. Learned from what I’d say is someone very credible/involved from a donor perspective that back in January Schertz and Murray were 1 and 2 for outside consideration with BH as 3. Obviously that was a couple months ago but there are serious donors who are intrigued by Murray’s offense and significance within a championship staff.

Id be surprised if BH wasn’t the “lets be serious” #1 right now, but Murray is more than likely still on the short list.

I think Murray non head coach experience hurts him for our job in particular. I would think after Red we would lean more towards a candidate with experience running a program

Got it. Thanks for the info. They should certainly look closely at Murray and the weigh pros and cons of hiring him. His ceiling is sky high. I suspect he will be among 3-4 guys we want to fully vet.

But I agree with your last statement about JS. Unless Schertz wants the job (and maybe he does!), they just can’t pass on Hodgson’s head coaching experience, modern offense, recruiting prowess, and successful (if short) track record. I’m glad to hear that they had Schertz as #1 when they first started looking at options in January. That shows that they’re not clueless about the landscape.

I just can't believe we have a coach leading our program who actually thinks we've made progress over the last 3 years. Even worse, dude actually said "we had a really good year" in his first year, when we missed the NCAA tournament. Unbelievable. We can't move on fast enough.

Exactly. NIT used to be a curse word around here and was considered a failure, yet that would be a major accomplishment to Autry. The bar, or should I say “standard”, has been set unbelievably low.

When they asked Red what he would have done different this year he say get more connected as a team. When they asked him what they did well he said they were connected? He had a hard time answering what the orange “standard” is? He lets guys take terrible shots and does not yank them, he said we were going to play a lot of guys and gas out, never happened. I think we were better in the beginning of the year because he played more guys for spurts. His line changes were terrible we would give away 5-7 point leads with mass substitutions.

A deal for Schertz would already be done where ever he is going or he is betting on himself. He isnt taking a job to take a job. It will have to be the right job in his mind to leave.

If that’s the list, I’d be excited for any one of those 3 to be hired as head coach.

Heard pretty much the same thing a while back as well. Then I heard a few "high-level" coaches were putting out feelers to SU. Then all of the chaos of the last few weeks broke. This is why I had stated back then that I didn't think Hodgson would be the pick.

Now I'm hoping he is, because I love the style of play after watching USF for the past month.
