Coach Search Options after Autry

No clue how all of this shakes out, but if Hodgson is the presumable #1 choice for both Cuse and P.C., then wouldn’t he also base a lot of his decision on which school in their own conference has the best chance to win. After all, if the money is somewhat comparable, all these alpha type coaches want to do is win! And if I’m him, I’m not quite sure Syracuse has the chance to jump over the likes of Duke, UNC, Virginia, among others. Not saying PC has a chance to jump over the likes of UConn or St. John’s, but it would sure seem a little easier. But again, I have no clue what exactly goes thru someone’s head getting ready to make a major decision like the ones some of these candidates are going to be asked to make in a relatively short period of time.
Would you rather win at SU or PC? Its obvious

ACC will get more bids into the tournament if your goal is to win titles playing in the ACC, having more chances to play Q1 teams, and more teams actually making the tournament.

Syracuse if I got the guarantee that all the major players who can be donors would unite behind the mission even if they had their own guy that didn't get the job. That hasn't been happening and it's why Providence is even a consideration. And Providence is a good program, they have a passionate fan base and united front. But when both are operating at full strength, it's not even close that Syracuse is the better job.

Calhoun stuff is easy we already talked about the jobs he would be looking at here and one was Cinncy if it opened up

Schertz staying at SLU is something discussed on here plenty.

Hodgson to PC is yet to be.

You can talk about Olen to Arizona State if you want credit for that later as well. We have talked about that plenty on this board as well.
Already staked my claim that Olen has his name in the ring at BC. Haven’t heard ASU one time for him. Randy Bennet has been more linked to them than anyone else.

Very fair and accurate

This youtube video from Opendorse is a couple of years old, but it will help people understand how Providence built it's NIL program as the video claims PC was a top 25 NIL school. The guy who did this video is the head of Opendorse' college NIL business so it is somewhat promotional. Syracuse uses Opendorse as well.

Hodgson is still coaching in the NCAA tournament. He's made it clear he wants to be here. They are just trying to turn up the heat on both Syracuse University AND it's donors to put together a good NIL package. That dude doesn't want to be banished to freaking Providence.

I heard Bennet as well because he is from Mesa. Being on the West Coast, Olen has been talked about plenty to ASU. Olen to BC makes little sense, as he hasn't been on the East Coast at all. He was born in Bama but his entire coaching career is on the West Coast.

My take is that all we’re hearing today is the chatter out of Providence that BH and his agent are open to their offers and they’re making a serious play for him.

For providence there is no backup plan hence the crazy talk for writing him a blank check today.

In the heads of PC people that means they’re locking him up but I’m thinking it’s just a smart move out of the BH camp to get a better payout and resources for wherever he lands.

Syracuse has more options to consider which lines up with comments BB is making today about how they’re moving quickly but there is a lot of options.

Guess we’ll see.

For anyone curious, I plotted the net efficiency margin via Ken Pom for every season going back to 1997. You can see a pretty sharp drop off in 2015. 06-08 were considered relatively bad years at the time (06 needed the BET run to make the tournament, 07/08 missed; though would probably have been in the 68 team field?). Those would be considered pretty good years in the post 14 era.
