Coach Search Options after Autry

If we lose Hodgson it’ll be the Oats situation all over again btw
There was never an opportunity to "lose" Oats. He left for Bama after the 2018-19 season. That was Buddy's freshman season. JB, as we know, was no where near ready to retire and SU was never going to force him out at that time to hire Oats. This a board myth that we lost out on Oats.

For anyone curious, I plotted the net efficiency margin via Ken Pom for every season going back to 1997. You can see a pretty sharp drop off in 2015. 06-08 were considered relatively bad years at the time (06 needed the BET run to make the tournament, 07/08 missed; though would probably have been in the 68 team field?). Those would be considered pretty good years in the post 14 era.

so we're trending up.

Could USF get Hodgson to agree to an extension? Look if USF thinks they are closer to getting an ACC bid that's the wild card here...
Fingers and toes have been crossed. By the time we find out I think I’ll need surgery to get them pulled apart

Anyone heard anything about the North Carolina job? I wonder if they’ll let Hub go if he flops again in the tournament. They haven’t looked great without Wilson.

Another great statement from Etan!View attachment 261069

Shut up, Etan.

Clinging to the past when the college basketball landscape was changing is a big part of why we are in our current predicament. We need to stop doing the same things and hoping for a different outcome, stop worrying about "family" BS, and hire the best coach we can.

Anybody who is saying that Hodgson is a "done deal" anywhere does not understand how this stuff works. He's two games away from a tournament appearance. He's not signing anything right now. If he makes the tournament, his price immediately goes up.

Let's use some logic here, folks, and not get caught up with Twitter accounts that have 300 followers.

And don't read into anything that Jeff Goodman is saying right now either. The agents tell him what benefits their clients.

Yup that is why I said early on Syracuse needed to wrap this up super quick and unofficially officially agree with Hodgson to avoid all this stuff. But it seems we didn't get anything ironclad done now we will have to deal with upping our offers as we adapt to Hodgson changing market.
Or, they buttoned him up last week. Or...they have moved on to other candidates.

Hubert is very much safe for another year. I actually think this year has been a great coaching job from him. They have Dylan Mingo on the way. I have a feeling that if Hubert wasn't safe, you don't see Schertz sign that contract extension at SLU this quickly.

Okay so which insider are we trusting here? Because there’s so much information about what coach goes where and people saying things are done deals.

Who are we trusting and can we all collectively trust them to not spew up nonsense?

Doesn’t matter who it is, just filter out the people who are just yapping

Whichever insider is:
- taller than 5’7
- been divorced
- gotten totally cockeyed in Alaska

In the event of a tiebreaker, most times divorced is deemed the most trustworthy insider.
