Guessing that Lally had his hooks in Lyke.

Other boosters had their hooks in Carparelli.

Since we went with a 3rd party candidate, none of the big money boosters have any influence anymore.

One positive is that Blair is a “football guy” so there should be a pathway for him to get the football guys on the same page.

With that being said, the disconnect between football and basketball will be another challenge after football is aligned lol

One thing I would say is with BLair being the hire there are a lot more potential options and from reading his quotes about the opening it appears there's a lot of external interest. I'd let things play out a bit.

Keep in mind that another name on the carousel is Kyle Smith at Stanford. And Blair was very involved in hiring him at Washington State.

Why would they part ways with Kline if Gmac was the hire? Who else would Gmac bring in as GM? His staff has nowhere close to the experience to be at the ACC level besides Lee. The parting ways with Kline makes me think this will be outside the boeheim tree.

Not necessarily. In situations like this, you let everyone go. Gerry could always hire Kline back if he wanted. But you wouldn't want the new guy, Gerry in this case, being forced to fire Kline as his first act as Coach. His first act has to be hiring people. Having said that, I don't mean to imply that it will be Gerry. Just that the firing of Kline doesn't mean it can't be Gerry.

I’m sure, but where I’m not I following is why other donors would leave (or threaten to) because the Lallys didn’t get their choice of AD. I could see them threatening to leave because Lyke didn’t get their choice job. But not other donors who don’t like the Lallys.

I think once Lally's wife didn't get Lyke, it resulted in Lally perhaps not approving Nick for AD, which then pissed off other donors. So no Lyke...no Nick...forces scramble for BB and results in both parties being pissed but now Lally supports BH. If I am understanding correctly. It's not a money issue with BH BUT perhaps the donors who backed Nick are playing hardball and if BH gets hired they pull football Nil.
I am just spitballing here between all the comments and what's maybe implied in between the lines.
