Coach Search Options after Autry

Congratulations to Bryan Hodgson and his USF team on winning the American and reaching the NCAA tournament. A great story, and a great coach on the rise who will lead us back to where we need to be as a program. It's hard to ignore the hysteria around this coaching search but let's remain optimistic that we can get this done.

Bring him home.

IMO, going to PU instead of SU shows lack of seriousness as a HC in wanting to win on a national level.

If we can't match or better PC's compo and Nil bag for him, then we're not a serious program anymore.

People always have a reason to not donate. Not AW specifically. It's their money so they can do what they want.
You're right, but considering some of the stuff that has come out about collectives, it makes some sense in this case.

In the take it for what its worth category, I spoke to a current D3 men's basketball coach today at Ivy League title game who has ties with an assistant on South Florida who has ties to the area as well (they text regularly) and that assistant coaches opinion less then 20 percent chance Hodgson ends up at Cuse. The opinion is he will either be at South Florida again or Providence, NOT saying this is fact but interesting take.
It may be that in talking to people he's somewhat downplaying the possibility of going to Cuse in case he doesn't get the offer or it doesn't work out. I want to believe that if he's been a Cuse fan he wants to come here.

I like their young back up PG Hightower more than Brown
Brown is not a good shooter at all… 46.6 TS% (that’s JJ-esque), although he does get to the FT line and has a pretty good assist rate.

Hightower didn’t play a lot this season, and made a grand total of 1 3-pt FG on the year.

If we end up with Hodgson - and if we have a nice bucket of NIL money - I’d hope we’d end up with better players than Brown and Hightower next year.

Correct we need a high level PG. I wouldn’t mind Hightower coming as a cheap backup PG he knows the system and can help set culture but need a higher level PG

I know. That also means he won't contribute because that is how the school wants it done.
In the past yes true, now with the new guard in charge this will remain to be seen. Hopefully they see it could make sense to bring in what you can no matter how you can (but within legal boundaries)

Could very well be, I am not some insider, I DO NOT have strong ties to people in the know attached to the University. I am just a season ticket holder who cares a lot... but I do know this coach fairly well, and as a D3 coach who has been around forever, he has lots of ties, he knows the assistant well enough to be on text chain, again I want Hodgson, so I hope he is wrong, it could be any number of reasons why that assistant coach said this, i wasn't digging too deep, he just said Providence is NIL committed for next season for whoever their coach is, they love Hodgson, but they are looking at several coaches, and he heard 20 percent chance Hodgson comes to Syracuse.
