Most of it (not all) is specifically earmarked for specific purposes or school costs almost all of which are non athletic. Now SU in an urgent situation could likely find a way to tap into it. However, your taking a major emergency type need like something for realignment purposes etc. For simply hiring a hc its not viable

To be honest he would have been screwed by the 2025 NIL situation.

Maybe, but I think a lot of coaches could've taken this team to the tournament. This past coaching staff would've struggled even with better NIL. They were too lost too often.
