Not really, it was the #1 target by half the people. The other half won, and now we get Hopkins. If the two halfs agreed that Hodgson was the #1 target, then he would be the head coach because it seems magically we have tons of NIL now over 10 million.

Sha came out and said he thought the NIL run a couple years ago turned into an audition. That team got gutted in the portal (Kadary > St. Johns, Dre Davis > Ole Miss) which led to the 7 win season.

Taking a guess but reading the tea leaves of the board it seems like Holloway wants us more than we want him - a few insiders have mentioned that we got some interest from sitting coaches. Wouldn't be surprised if he wants out and is potentially regretting not taking Louisville 2 years ago.

Im not anti Lally, its there $$ and they can do what they want with it and I appreciate them giving it. That said its not exactly top-secret info they aren't huge bball donors. This idea that SU turned down major $$ from them to not hire Hodgson is fn insane. I know people are pissed but there's some god awful takes in this thread.

Is it possible that with the recent NIL issues with the FB donors, Hopkins being able to bring his own NIL backing became immensely more attractive?

Reports were that FB supposedly lost 4-5mill in NIL donations due to the fallout. If Hop brings as much NIL as some have reported, that would allow the university to temporarily shift bball’s rev share to football to cover those loses.
