The problem is he's clearly the best candidate and on the cutting edge of analytics. No one else out there is. So we are almost certainly going to get a meh candidate. Unless it's some home run hire we haven't heard about.

I have zero faith anyone knows what they are doing on the hill regarding basketball. When in doubt we will revert to what worked 20 and 30 years ago then will wonder why we suck in November. We have not adjusted to the times and a lot of fans haven't either.

We have no idea what occurred. I wanted BH too but perhaps he priced himself out. He's an up and coming coach but if he's asking for $5-6M annual salary can you really justify that? Not sure what Fran makes but you would imemdiately need to increase his salary since football brings in the $.

If we go with Gerry or Hop they would like be in the $3M salary range. Not sure BH is two times the coach of these two.

- Twitter rumors imply it was an NIL issue, board rumors apply a little more than just NIL being a problem
- Jake hinted at an announcement as early as today - which would imply either a current AC (Murray) or a coach not in the postseason currently (Olen, Hopkins, Holloway)
- Board consensus seems to think it’ll be Hop

Board consensus Hop is driven by a poster last night with a screenshot of Derek Coleman that was deleted. Appears he is a candidate which we have known for weeks and ignored but consensus no way.

Seems that way but that would totally undermine what those involved have said about proven winner, experience with NIL etc.

Here’s my fear with in house for the normies to get

1- Hop or GMac get the job
2- decent staff is announced
3- a couple guys we want announced will stay
4- decent NIL package leaked out
5- Decent portal class with some exciting additions
6- off season coverage shows promise and intensity and either of those options are well spoken and the non crazies like us are stoked
7- We smoke both exhibitions an everything looks positive
8- We get to Vegas and can’t score and staff is angry and not sure what to do as we get bulldozed again.
9- The juice and excitement is completely gone and there are no good basketball answers that the staff is able to provide
10- JB is much louder on the media telling Cuse nation to let his guy get going and trust the process and spews some spin about the Vegas losses
11- The tailspin begins before we’ve even gotten to conference season and the dome empties out like it did with Red
12- All along the media and other fanbases are laughing at us like we are Rutgers.

Maybe it doesn’t go this way but the normies need to understand this has a much higher likelihood than with BH and definitely higher with Hop. GMac looks like a good hire compared to Hop and if that’s part of the whole mirage to try and sell this, grading on a curve…

Lastly - if it’s GMac then I’ll just say a little prayer that Siena gives Duke the biggest scare of the season or does the impossible and maybe some faith is restored.
