They aren’t hiring Hop. Even with all the money in the world and support he’s getting, the university knows they can get over the Washington record so that’s out.

However, they are trying to get the Same group of donors that were backing hop to back Gmac. They want Blackwell as well as the 1-2 punch. And they think that is their best way to raise money and basically anyone outside of the family has no shot to raise any sort of money because they don’t know anyone in the community

They are interviewing Hurley this week and a few other “outsiders” that even the university wouldn’t share with this donor

The financials are rough. Really rough. They are asking for sums of money that are literally astronomical and hiring a coach is going to be very hard because of how bad it truly is.

Yup I feel he is opposite of what we need. He seems to be an elite defensive coach that could care less about offense. When I reviewed him I don't know maybe 400 pages ago. He basically said he doesn't care about offense just wants them to make the right play and share the ball. No offensive concepts besides screening. Scary...

If we are going to be behind in dollars lets get an elite offense and put a ton of points on the board.

My contention has always been that GMac could raise a ton of money until he starts losing. Then, if the wheels fall off like with Red, it would be an almost insurmountable hole to dig out from. If the financials are as bad as you are saying, I would feel light years better about Gmac than Hop, and the locals would love the hire.

My perspective on Bryan Blair

The major reason I believe he was hired was to make a fresh start and because he wasn't already in someone's pocket. He did not hold any allegiances coming in like Carp and Lyke. Simply put the board and this special consultant in the end said the best thing we can do is to pick a guy that will probably upset and disrupt everyone equally.

BB is going to tell all the internal groups supporting BH, Hop, and Gmac you know what this is not in the bag for anyone. They'll get a look but with no biases and let's be real that prob didn't sit well with anyone on the hill.

If you take a step back BH, Gmac and Hop are all basic hires, they are family or they are the usual top midmajor angling for a better deal and ready to make the jump to P5. Our fanbase is so desperate for a winner that all we want is the safe choice which really puts 99% of fans into 2 camps BH with his solid record at midmajors or Gmac with his hometown hero status.

BUT that's not how BB is going to see it. He is not in the family nor was he here for the last year or 2 while BH was angling. From his perspective anyone that was here for the last 5-10 years of crap was part of the problem and what they want is probably not the best course of action.

I hope people read BB's bio and his accomplishments, he has been the youngest and first mover on so many things. He was just hired over multiple people that although had flaws they had decades more experience than him and powerful people in their corners. This dude hates the status quo and hearing this how we usually do things...

Right now I hope BB is burning it all down, which is why you hear the panic from insiders and the panic from their insiders and so on and confusion all over. No one knows what he is going to do and maybe that's what we really need right now because the status quo is not working.

Personally I think that means it will be one of the highly touted assistants or even an assistant we have not thought of or a longshot top P5 coach out of left field that he sells a dream. It will not be family and it won't be a midmajor coach moving up with any connection to anyone here and that is going to piss alot of people off, but its what needs to be done now.

This is hopeful posting, but we don't know, do we?
