Well, with good coaching and a plan, he could do wellWhy would Kentucky want George?

I wish the people in charge realized that they would have a lot more money if they hired a guy who can fill the Dome again.Ok folks here you go and this is confirmed information from probably the closest person to the program on the donor side -
They aren’t hiring Hop. Even with all the money in the world and support he’s getting, the university knows they can get over the Washington record so that’s out.
However, they are trying to get the Same group of donors that were backing hop to back Gmac. They want Blackwell as well as the 1-2 punch. And they think that is their best way to raise money and basically anyone outside of the family has no shot to raise any sort of money because they don’t know anyone in the community
They are interviewing Hurley this week and a few other “outsiders” that even the university wouldn’t share with this donor
The financials are rough. Really rough. They are asking for sums of money that are literally astronomical and hiring a coach is going to be very hard because of how bad it truly is.
All the players on the team have the intention to come back. Mainly bc they have ZERO offers from other schools. Nate George has an offer from Kentucky and that’s it. Obviously it will be up to the new coach on what to do with the roster.
Have fun
All those year of getting JB at a discounted price really skewed their vision of the coaching pay scaleWould you say SU was caught off-guard with the monetary demands coaches are making? Did they not realize how much would be required?
That's my thinking. Assuming an outside hire can't fundraise is insane. The vast majority of coaches are not usually alums.I wish the people in charge realized that they would have a lot more money if they hired a guy who can fill the Dome again.
Clarification: “They are asking….” Coaches are asking Sau, or SUbis asking from donors? Thanks for all you do BulldogOk folks here you go and this is confirmed information from probably the closest person to the program on the donor side -

They don't care.I wish the people in charge realized that they would have a lot more money if they hired a guy who can fill the Dome again.
I'm 71 years old, and neither of those 2 things bother me. One is a reformed felon who did his time (that is the goal of doing time) and the other had a kid like many do out of wedlock including many college basketball players. I don't try to put people in a conventional box. Slightly concerning that it was a student, but not an employee (like at Michigan) and that would be different. This was just an adult student and someone who worked at the school. I think this was covered in Animal House several times. Although the deans wife was different as she was married. But there was the student and the professor. I don't want to hear the argumant that he is setting an example for the fine young men on his basketball team.197 pounds of weed that's cool we can look past that
Child out of wedlock = deal breaker
It sounds like reverse engineering an excuse to hire Gerry. That's my thinking. Assuming an outside hire can't fundraise is insane. The vast majority of coaches are not usually alums.
Winning will open checkbooks.
Whats frustrating is that the death of this program is what has cratered financials. We need to go big now and it looks like instead we are looking to replace our HC with pieces that bring no new energy. Rinse and repeat. Can't ask donors to pony up if the product stinks year after year.Ok folks here you go and this is confirmed information from probably the closest person to the program on the donor side -

The SU athletic department is askingClarification: “They are asking….” Coaches are asking Sau, or SUbis asking from donors? Thanks for all you do Bulldog
They think he can fill the Dome. He probably can for a while. But if he starts losing...I wish the people in charge realized that they would have a lot more money if they hired a guy who can fill the Dome again.
This doesn't shock me, but surely this is good for the players right, because after all, they were exploited so much we had to kill college sports to make sure they felt better. The scariest part- whoever new coach is, if they don’t win in year 1 or show signs of life. Some donors are leaving for good and then we’re in some serious serious serious trouble
Wish the admin realized that and overpaid for a more sure thing. The scariest part- whoever new coach is, if they don’t win in year 1 or show signs of life. Some donors are leaving for good and then we’re in some serious serious serious trouble
With what money, if what Bulldog is saying is true we have nothingWish the admin realized that and overpaid for a more sure thing.
Well when you read about 2,000 posts in one sitting it is not surprising that I misunderstood the post or the previous post it was referring to. This is not easy reading. Give a girl a break, lol.I was responding to a post. I meant it's early in the day to say that there has been no breaking news today.
Correct - the athletic office believes Gmac is the best option for raising money and putting butts in seats to generate revenue. They are terrified to bring in someone else in fear that a new coach that no one knows will basically have 3000 people show up to the first 10 gamesThey think he can fill the Dome. He probably can for a while. But if he starts losing...
Since you put it that way, I changed my mind. Hire that man!!Go from one coach who lost the team to another coach who publicly admitted he lost the team?
That is so incredibly shortsighted it is really beyond beliefCorrect - the athletic office believes Gmac is the best option for raising money and putting butts in seats to generate revenue.
