Coach Search Options after Autry

Sure, that’s two guys. You need alum that have created successful businesses making hundreds of millions of dollars, or have risen to CEO of Fortune 500 companies. Doesn’t seem like SU has produced those types of people.

I could be off on this, but I don’t see a ton of people from SU fitting those categories.
Or what about this. They exist but since nil has only been around for 5 years they never knew they had to buy players every year for Cuse to win. And now that we’re losing it’s that much harder to motivate them.

Meanwhile the SEC is like hah jokes on you guys. We’ve been paying players for a generation. They know the game, we don’t yet but the hope is that with Guys like Fran and BB and the guys after Autry we will.

One of my concerns with Gmac is that he has not seen how dirty it gets yet behind the scenes. We can’t live on this hope that we’re a great brand and money doesn’t matter.

My friends lives there, is a Siena guy and this is a paraphrase of what he and I have seen.

re #2 this part is accurate, he really does understand the players, BUT he really is NOT a traditional players coach. If you listen to his players he's yelling and cajoling them nonstop very non touchy feely type, very Boeheimesque - I'm NOT your friend. BUT, off the court he very much has a connection is a connected person/coach with them way above and beyond JB,so he's the best of both worlds which is why in my initial push for him this was part of the reason.

The Siena kids interviewed were like, I know he's doing it for me/has my best interests at heart so I keep that in mind in practice as he's in my grill all over me (or words to that effect). I have zero doubt, zero he'd do well here.
That’s diff from him and Red. Red asks and try’s to get u to do something and Gerry demands it or he is up your ars.

There is but it's essentially the coaches fund and is not well publicized. Its something that should be changing in the near future and something that will be noted to Syracuse because your not the first person to mention this exact problem.
The coaches funds cannot be used for NIL or revenue sharing. I had a long zoom meeting with one of the associate athletic directors about 3 weeks ago regarding this exact issue for the women's program. It is for operational expenses only. Confirmed by said athletic director when I asked that question. The women now have a link for revenue sharing in the Champion Cuse site. You have to go way down the donation page under "other athletic funds" There is a box there to check for "athletic Competitive Excellence Women's Basketball" I think there was also one for men's basketball. They were supposed to be having a big meeting to make donating to women revenue sharing easier, but I think all of the changes cancelled that meeting. Obviously NIL can only be done outside of any SU donations through a collective, and currently there is only one for football.

EDIT: Having those links does not increase the dollar amount of what can be shared. And my guess is if we start giving too much towards either men's or women's basketball that does not fit into the % breakdown of the total, they will kill the link for the remainder of the year. Bottom line, it just allows you to have a choice, but the totals and the splits will still stay the same.

They have...A lot in the entertainment business, finance, media, tech. amongst others.

I’m sure this is not allowed but can NIL be attached to ticket sales? Every ticket includes a $3-5 or whatever NIL surcharge going directly to a collective. 18-20 home games, get back to averaging 20k a game and boom, there’s another couple mill for NIL purposes. Who cares what the NCAA says, they’re feckless.
I’ve also felt you could say for every kid who attends Syracuse $250 goes to NIL…a way to bring instant cash into the programs

There’s just no way you go GMAC or Hopkins after the way Autry went and how poor Boeheim was the last few years. Going anything along that tree is legit lunacy which means they are gonna go ahead and probably do that. Let’s hope the new AD has some juice to him. I have faith!

Ah leveraged lending …music to my ears
I am going to guess that leveraging lending is not allowed. You run the risk of not being able to produce the replacement funds, and I am guessing this is covered contractually when an endowment is made. Even just that the funds cannnot be used for any other purpose. Our alumni club in NNJ endowed a scholarship many years ago, but I don't remember everything that was required at the time. I do know that it was $50,000 raised towards that scholarship but shortly after they raised it to $100,000.

Doubt that can be done either. That ties NIL directly to the school, and that is not allowed. But keep the creative juices flowing here. It wasn't a bad idea.

I was joking

Micron is not the answer. The important "fact" here is that Micron's philanthropy is aimed at supporting educational and workforce development. Micron and SU already have a relationship spearheaded by Haynie. It revolves around academia and curriculum development to help train the workforce Micron will require.

We are not likely to see financial support beyond those goals. It's not what they do. They haven't done it for Boise St. It's a different culture.
And that's a shame. Who cares about educational development.

At the dome have a round up on orders and the change they give goes to NIL. So if the order is 15.25 ask to round up to donate to NIL. Most people will probably do it. The change like that on every transaction will add up.

Typically not the richest sector to go into.

Finance, tech, etc. SU is not up there for those industries.
Finance? With all the lacrosse players that have come through Syracuse over the past 40 years? We have tons of guys in finance.

The issue is that SU alums donate less to their school, and less to athletics, than other alumni bases. SU has many more people who see their relationship to college like John Mulaney and not T. Boone Pickens.

Honestly I understand it. It’s one thing to write a check to help put up a building. But to do it to pay a shooting guard? Meh.
