Why would he leave tcu? They have money and play in a better conference.

Same. Interested to see how Gerry navigates Duke’s defense and how his players handle a giant stage.

Gerry is playing without 3 guys that would have started for him. Duke is playing without 2, I believe. No question that Siena is hurt more by their losses in this game than Duke would be. In a game like this one, Duke can play guys down the bench and not miss a beat.

And getting blown out by duke will prevent that from happening?

Considering SU was blown out by 37, I dont think it will really matter much in the final analysis.
If they were to beat Duke or even lose by less than 10, that would be seismic for sure.

It's largely up to the higher powers - donors, sponsors, NIL, and a few highly influential folks.

But, IMHO, all roads are leading to:

I am great with him. Never felt IT with Red but I do with Mac because he has at least turned around a low crappy team into a good one. If he does this, the dome will blow off. Most don’t like it cause of Reds lack of success. Mac is a different coach. Gritty. Red is a nice coach. Huge difference.

Something I was told from someone close to a player. For reference, I live in Fulton. Don't want to say too much but it seems like its already done. Would be surprised if something else transpires.

And of course you are correct. Choosing between a great offense and terrible defense vs a Great defense and a terrible offence, take the defense. It is there every night. It's like having great pitching. The offensive team would be more fun to watch. No question about that. But the defense will win a few more games. You can't always be on with your offense.

The issue people have here is we have played offense so stupidly for so long that everyone who’s against certain hires are afraid we are going to double down on the same isolation mid range 2 garbage in the halfcourt we see year after year. So while I agree defense is important a lot of the defensive first coaches mentioned absolutely stink at coaching the offensive side of the ball. Holloway immediately comes to mind.

UConn runs hardly any isolation sets hardly at all. It’s a different sport compared to what we try to do.

Honestly just ready for a coach to get named and signed at this point. This period of churn is getting old and no matter the selection would rather try to find ways to look forward and honestly see some positivity. Between football season and hoops it's been just a constant stream of negativity everywhere. Gotta start looking forward to spring football and a new hoops coach and hopefully a good offseason.

It’s a combo of Sean Miller and Chris Mack from my understanding.

It doesn't look like he ever overlapped with Miller. Maybe from the "teaching circuit" I guess.

If it's Gerry the hire should be predicated on identifying/ hiring a strong OC and not rely on him bringing his entire Siena staff with him.

It isn't gonna happen anyways but man you have to be such a scrooge to not be rooting for Gerry to pull off the biggest miracle in tournament history.
