If people are annoyed with Gerry’s offense they’re gonna just love Tony Skinn. I watched a lot of their games this year. They wear people down but his offense was not pretty this year…at all.

Yeah, that is one of the major concerns I have with Skinn.

They are not picking Skinn over GMac no way. Skinn may have already had an interview lined up so they are honoring that but no chance they pick Skinn over GMac

I think you just hit it with Gerry's game yesterday making things a little more complicated for our decision makers. As I wrote privately, the thing that scares me with Gerry is Doty and Anthony playing together. You just have to have better 3 pt shooters than that. There probably isn't a pt guard we can get that would make up for their limitations. Now, they could improve but I wouldn't count on it.

I have said the same thing myself on this forum - Doty and Anthony on the same roster puts us immediately behind the 8 ball. Something will have to give.

It's flattering. I just hope Scheyer is being honest and not trying to bait Syracuse and purposely made it look like a game lol. I don't know why Scheyer would play games like that at all, but a good Syracuse is threatening to the ACC power structure.

Those are not good enough qualities.

The last guy in his job went to Providence and failed miserably.

Beat up on patsies in non-conference. Beat zero top 100 schools in non-league play in any of the last three years. Been to two NIT's, zero NCAA's in 3 years.

Is not worthy of a P4 job anywhere, IMO.

two weeks ago i was firmly in the BH camp. i wasn't necessarily "out" on Gerry but i just never really considered him a viable candidate with how the Autry era went.

i'm now very torn on whether we should realistically hold the autry era against gmac. we might be overthinking this a bit. he's a flat out good candidate. and what if he truly is the best guy for NIL/fundraising? that needs to count for a lot.

regardless - the siena/duke game did nudge me in his direction. i felt it was a nice showcase for him and hiring him now would give the university a bit of a PR bump. for a "close loss" it sure had a lot of people talking yesterday (including other coaches).

it is VERY clear to me that he's not just another autry. if he is the choice, it is imperative though that he is surrounded by quality assistants.

This is not directed at you, but in general.

It might be imperative that he’s surrounded by good assistant coaches, but it’s even more imperative that he’s surrounded by good players. That’s the part where Syracuse falls down. And if we can’t give him the right echelon of players, we will see one of the program’s true hero’s go down in flames. Not a pretty sight. If we’re going to sacrifice yet another coach, I’d rather it not be Gerry.

It was said by someone else MANY pages back last night -- ADBB is in a bit of a no win situation. With the momentum building among Orange Fandom to hire GMac, it will be very disappointing to many if he doesn't regardless of who he does hire and how good that coach may be. As I think Donna or Mike said in their article last night -- Orange fans all over the nation where watching that game yesterday, are proud of Gerry, and are clamoring for Gerry to be the coach at Syracuse, NOW. If the reason he isn't is that he said no, then the onus will be on ADBB for not making it happen anyway. And . . . what would ADJW have done if he was still the decider? If he would have, and ADBB doesn't, does that put the blame on whoever forced ADJW to retire now?

I doubt he's being coy. He almost suffered the biggest tournament upset in history at Gerry's hand. His team is lucky to still be alive, and he knows it.

The only option at this point is Gerry McNamara.

If it isn't Schertz or Hodgson, everyone else is sort of the same.

McNamara's line to $ is the deciding factor. If it's any other name, it would be surprising to me.

I think JS was being very honest. As has been said in the article about Maliq Brown transferring to Dook, GMac and JS have been good friends for a long time. I don't think JS is too worried about future competition for SU. He also knows it would make the ACC better.

Perception needs to be reality. They want to sell the fan base a true national search and GMac was the best option etc. If that is what they are going to sell, then they need to leak these interviews for these not real candidates like Hurley and Skinn so then the optics match the words.
