Perception needs to be reality. They want to sell the fan base a true national search and GMac was the best option etc. If that is what they are going to sell, then they need to leak these interviews for these not real candidates like Hurley and Skinn so then the optics match the words.

I have said the same thing myself on this forum - Doty and Anthony on the same roster puts us immediately behind the 8 ball. Something will have to give.

What will have to give is Anthony will have to work his ass off. If he can perform better than Doty, let him be the starter. If it is close because he actually works to improve, let him be the sixth man. Worked out for

Frankly, I do not think Doty gives a damn if he is a starter or the sixth man or the seventh man. All the dude wants to do is win. Played small forward as a freshman. And make no mistake, he will improve his 33% 3pt . He improved 5% from last year and says with Gerrys help he will improve that next year.
I will say this because of how he operated at Siena - if Anthony doesnt work, if he slacks off, Doty (as well as Gerry) will be on his ass like green on grass.

And we will finally have an oncourt leader that we havent had since Gerry himself.
Doty will take no prisoners and will outwork everyone on the team.
And with his performance against Duke on national TV, he now has street cred for his future teammates.

It's flattering. I just hope Scheyer is being honest and not trying to bait Syracuse and purposely made it look like a game lol. I don't know why Scheyer would play games like that at all, but a good Syracuse is threatening to the ACC power structure.

LOL. I highly doubt Jon decided to get down by 13 in the 2nd half of a NCAAT game, potentially creating the biggest upset in tournament history, just to make GMac look good so Syracuse would hire him.

Gerry McNamara and Siena nearly pulled off the ultimate upset. Even with a loss, McNamara just showed Syracuse why they need to bring him home.

Mopey I was being real that GMac is going to be the hire. The reasons people are saying are silly, but he will be the choice. I told other people he was the choice since BH pulled out, and that is the reason he pulled out was that they had already picked GMac that was before the Duke game even happened. And BH pulling out was to save face. That is the only logical reason.

The absolute line I would still draw in the sand is to not bring in the whole Blackwell AO assistant crew if we do go with Gerry, which I still think would be a shortsighted bad long term decision. But at the VERY least, bring in an offensive minded assistant who brings a clear vision for offensive sets. I don't know nearly as much as some here on the specifics, but it seems like Gerry is not gonna bring in some elite sophisticated offensive system that gets us back on track in that department, like a Luke Murray would. If you look at their season as a whole that seems more clear.

I am still overall anti hiring gmac and think one game should not be the end all be all. Social media acting like it would be a guaranteed slam dunk is clearly clouded by recency bias. But it is getting very hard to deny that he would be excellent at getting maximum effort out of his players and encourage a far better culture than most coaches. Those are key points in his favor. They are far from everything!!! But they are points in his favor.

Blackwell is an outstanding coach and definitely should be brought with him. He has great personality and kids love him

The only option at this point is Gerry McNamara.

If it isn't Schertz or Hodgson, everyone else is sort of the same.

McNamara's line to $ is the deciding factor. If it's any other name, it would be surprising to me.

Luke Murray is not the same as any listed above, but yea the fanbase is terrified of an assistant again.

Basically I think Gerry can bring most of his staff with him. But at Syracuse he will be able to add to it. The big one is I think an offensive minded AHC.

Could be but I think there were leaks that we got a big push of NIL before the Duke game even happened that leads me to believe, regardless of the results it was GMac as that is who the money is more than likely tied too.

If people are annoyed with Gerry’s offense they’re gonna just love Tony Skinn. I watched a lot of their games this year. They wear people down but his offense was not pretty this year…at all.

Agreed, it’s awful. Would be a very uninspiring hire.
