Coach Search Options after Autry

So what was the deal with them pulling for hodgson then, if I’m reading this correctly pulling for them meant getting someone outta of it for themselves. Right?
Oh, I don't know about that. They clearly really like him. Buffalo roots. They root for him at South Florida. I don't know that they need anything more than that to want him as the next coach.

That's tough because if it comes out with no wiggle room that he lied, he is sort of finished. No one trusts a liar. If it was close he could have said something like we had discussions with one coach and we both agreed that it wouldn't work. But that isn't what he said. He just said No.
That’s a bingo. He could’ve easily deflected too. If you listen there was a little anger there too. Not for being asked more that he had to deal with goodmans spin

Since Hodgson's candidacy was sunk by his perfectly legal relationship with his child-bearing fiance, clearly SU won't hire a guy who punched a dude in the nuts 20 years ago.
I'm sure they'd be okay with a guy who punched a dude in the nuts 20 years ago, as long as it was a Syracuse guy punching, preferably a Hoya, but a Husky would work too.

I could certainly see where no formal offer was made but either way the expected outcome being it would be given behind the effort and sway by the Lally’s and thus the offer being turned down was more to do with the expectation that had been building up seeming imminent. I.e. several conversations loosely confirming the job is his if he wants it not technically being a formal offer.

I don't know. Which is sort of the point. Very few know the real answer. And none of them post here.

Well, if someone indicates they won’t accept the job before you formally offer it, you can legitimately say they didn’t say no to an offer, right? Doudtful he’d come right out and say yes, isn’t it?

Well yes. Since they were all in on Hodgson and he is out...They have never contributed to Syracuse men's hoop. Never. They didn't like JB and it might have had something to do with JB's friendship with Adam W. I don't know.
I don't like the cut of the Lally jib

If I’m BB regardless of who he picks but especially if it’s gmac, all wkend I’m working on getting NIL checks in the door.

Gmac was the closest we got to a Cinderella story yesterday not just in NY, everywhere. Gotta ride that wave cuz a new Cinderella might turn up soon

Odds Goodman exaggerated something he was told by his sources?

His sources are agents, it is never going to be negative about their clients; it will always paint the candidates in a positive light because that is what agents want out of there

Technically correct we couldn't officially offer BH for him to officially turn down because he was still under contract and coaching in the NCAA tournament.

Exactly! It's interesting, that in the broader world we live in today, folks seemingly struggle to read between the lines.

This is one of my concerns. Gerry is one of my favorite players and would feel terrible if it went the way it did for Red. I dont want it to take the shine off him in any way...
Yeah but look at the upside potential. He led us to 1 championship, why not 2?

Not really because it’s mentally exhausting. Literally any form of news I take with a giant grain of salt. I have to check out multiple sources, make sure the sources are legit, then analyze word spin and still after all that, I don’t know if my conclusion is 100% factual. And most people probably don’t go that level of depth.

“Say what you mean, mean what you say” is extinct in news, media, politics, head figures, etc. Rant over. LOL.

You can withdraw from the process without turning down the position. An offer is only made when when negotiations are fairly advanced and there is some confidence that it will be accepted or negotiations can continue.

Wasn't there chatter a few weeks ago that Gerry had done exactly that? Circumstances change.

No doubt. I'm towing the line here... ;)

Interesting quote from JB on GMAC. “He’ll decide what he wants to do and I’ll support him.”

Sounds like he’s the first call and that it’s not a slam dunk.

No way he turns it down, but after not getting enough consideration last time around he might want to savor it a bit and make everyone sweat.

I could see myself doing something petty in that situation, like telling my agent to do the math and add enough money to the deal to make every paycheck end in 0,381.78.
