This is one of my concerns. Gerry is one of my favorite players and would feel terrible if it went the way it did for Red. I dont want it to take the shine off him in any way...

I don’t put too much faith in that. Plausible deniability by everyone.

AD would never admit they were turned down, that doesn’t look good. And they could always turn it around and say negotiations broke down and was never actually offered.

Look at Penn State, I don’t know for a fact, but I’m sure Matt Campbell is the first person they offered.
