Hah come on. Just stop. They don’t go into the portal unless they want to. If they want a player they go after them and 9 out of 10 times get them. Just because they’ve been freshman heavy doesn’t mean it’s a trend it’s just because they’ve had great freshman better than the portal options.

I’m not saying they can’t get portal players. They just rely on the kids they recruit. They’ve done ok having the last two national players of the year without going into the portal to overpay.

I'm not saying Gerry is going to be that kind of coach, just that one close loss doesn't mean you're a great coach or are going to have a HOF career.

Now do the overall player comp. Flagg and boozer don’t need 5-10 mil from Duke NIL when a sponsor gives them 10-15 mil directly.

Cooper made 27 mil while a student at Duke from fanatics and new balance. Nil from Duke is not something they care about.

Out of curiosity, what do we think Gonzaga’s NIL is? They’ve probably paid more than the rest of the WCC combined for the last 25 years, but they won’t be light years ahead in the new PAC-10.

They play a monster non conference schedule every year and are still good. It’s not just beating up on WCC.

Here's the solution.

We install a handicap system, similar to golf.

On Nov. 1, each school must publicly declare their NIL and Rev. Share total.

For each game, the higher spending program will spot the lower spending program 2 points for every million dollar differential.

This number will be fully auditable and acts of deceit are punishable by either (a) death or (b) having the 1-877-KARS-4-KIDS jingle played on a continuous loop at every practice the following year.

Josh Schertz - could be on the fence between the Cuse offer and a big raise to stay put
Jay Wright - maybe he misses the action
Mark Few - seems way out of left field, but he's tight with Boeheim
Billy Donovan - probably about done in the NBA

Dasher also said the timing was tricky when asked about the tournament, but the tournament could have been a smoke screen here. Schertz and Few are still in, Donovan has until mid-April left with the Bulls. Not sure how Jay Wright's timing would be weird.

Martelli Jr doesn't fit because the board wouldn't be unified if he was hired over Gerry. I can't think of any other current non-P5 head coaches who the forum would be unified on or NBA coaches who had success at college who would drop down, or semi-recently retired coaches.

I missed that. Damn, Wright would have been really exciting - I would think he'd stay until he had his fill again as opposed to bouncing, and that could have timed up nicely with Gerry getting another year or two at Siena, a few years at a mid-major, and then coming home.

Schertz would be amazing, though, and if he bounced for more money elsewhere in a few years, maybe Gerry would be ready then.

Can't be Otz, he's at a P5. Schertz is a shocker because everyone thinks he's extended already, but it sounds like a verbal agreement - and maybe the buyout doesn't kick in until after this season ends?
