Coach Search Options after Autry

Which is what exactly? The only thing I’d go by as a legit source is what Pete Thamel has said, and that’s not a knock on anyone here. I know people are connected and appreciate everything they are willing to share. I just don’t think collectively we know as much about the current search as we think. Maybe I’m wrong.

What concretely did Pete Thamel put out there in regard to a candidate?

If you’re gonna credit time as an assistant, Luke Murray is far more qualified.

Why wouldn't we count any coach's time as an assistant? That doesn't matter? The point is you can poke holes in anybody's resume. Murray hasn't been a head coach but he's been an assistant at the highest level. Which do you value more? Head coach experience regardless of level or assistant coach success at the highest level? Tomato, tomahto.

If we go with GMAC and he underwhelms, heck even if he whelms, is the administration going to once again guarantee 3-years of actual coaching time?

The whole notion that "the plan was always 3 years for Red", "we can't fire someone after 2-yrs b/c nobody will want to come here", "it would be disrespectful to someone who has given half his life to the school", etc... is a big reason why are here and beating our heads against the wall on Page 750.

It’s definitely huge and I think we will be good either direction we go!

SU is getting my $44 or my $500 and maybe even my $1,000 no matter who the coach is, but for the good of the program and my love of SU sports.

But if I'm in the position to give 7 figures, then I might look at my donation differently. Maybe 1 coach gets $500,000 but another gets 1 million. That is something for the donor to weigh. I don't really think it is petty, but in their minds a business decision. I don't think you can just say "x" to the basketball program. Who will make my dollar go further, and do I want to save my dollar for another day?

Nope wont complain after the hire, just like I did with Red. Complained all off-season before we hired him just like this. Then, once we hired him, I stopped complaining outside the game threads until YR 2 when it was clear he was awful.

That resources weren’t an issue, NIL is upper middle of ACC and can improve quickly, there are sitting P5 coaches interested and that he expects them to hire someone with HC experience this time since they went with inexperienced Red last time. From what I heard he didn’t mention any specific candidates by name just that there’s ncaa tournament coaches good names available for Syracuse.

And that is how I understand it, too. For sure it was positive/promising from one of the more plugged-in guys out there, but nothing real concrete either

Do you think people won’t “support” him? And honestly, it doesn’t matter at all if people “support” him in the abstract.
