Coach Search Options after Autry

If it’s Gerry, I am fully riding and backing him from the very first minute it’s official. There is zero point in any of you wallowing and complaining about something we can’t change.

He’s shown he can coach at a competent level, something we can’t say about the last guy.

So if you guys give up on our program, do it now. We don’t want to see you back excited when it pays off later next February.

The maac is a competent level.

This is 100% win right away. And Gerry knows that. In the day and age of the portal and NIL, it can happen. And it needs to happen. But there are examples of it working elsewhere for a first-year head coach.

People are underrating how bad Autry was. We win at least five more games with Gerry as the coach this year in my opinion.

I forget the exact number now, but it was something like 13 of the teams in the tournament this year had first year head coaches. So it can very very easily work here right away.

I’m pretty negative on the hire, I don’t really think it’ll work out but what do I know. I’m just making the point that it absolutely can turn around right away (and if it doesn’t, that’s not a great reflection on the new coach)

Doty scored 21 against Duke. A good part of the second half on a bad ankle.
Yet we think he is only good enough to be a role player?
He’s good enough to be a star but my point was that he wouldn’t need to be the guy at Cuse. We’d have enough money to bring in other alphas

IF GMac to Cuse gets done and he brings Doty.. keeps KA and maybe 1 or 2 more.. We need someone that can hit 3's, a PG that can get into the lane and some type of interior D presence.. wouldnt mind a 4 that can hit an 18 footer either... I figure we need atleast 3 mid to high level guys to get us to the Tourney next year.

If he’s a “born winner” then why didn’t he have a pro career? I’m not even talking about the NBA.

Why didn’t he land a slew of 5 star recruits in his 12 years as a coach at SU?

No offense, but that kind of comment is meaningless.
LOL. I think GMac got the most out of his 5’10” frame.

The kid who won the PA state championship by scoring 60+

The freshman that hit 6 threes against Kansas to propel SU to the National Championship

The guy that put a mediocre team in his back to win 4 games in 4 days in the BET

All of the game winners and clutch shots he hit. All of the times he played 40 minutes and left it all on the court.

You can certainly criticize GMac for different things, but saying he isn’t a “winner” is definitely an odd take.

Sames. I ain’t ever went to a game to watch a coach walk the sideline or give a presser. Portal gives everyone a shot to get after it every year. Money talks, players will come. We’ll see

Three guys who can’t shoot a lick👎
Siena lived in the midrange this year, get used to it.

Siena’s ranks this year:

3PT rate (taken) - 326th
3PT percentage - 330th
% of points from 3 - 343rd
Average 2pt shot distance - 278th
Average possession length on offense - 341st
% of points from 2 - 20th

They were the opposite of a rim and 3s offense. They were very very slow and took long 2s.

thank you. i dont care whether people were for or against gmac being coach. but its said that i think some will quietly root for him to fail.

You know that will not be me. I was against RED 3 years ago and fully supported him year 1 and to start year 2. So it wont be me. I will be in the game threads calling out bad coaching in the moment but I will never cheer for Syracuse to lose a game period. But just like Red this feels like a lazy hire and not in the best interest of Syracuse.

the intro press conference might be the easiest win of his tenure. Shouldn’t even say anything other than just play the Remember The Name YouTube highlight
