So let's play the game, who is going to be shown the door and why?

Guys who are safe (IMO): Shafer, Conley, Wheatley, Anselmo, Adkins

That leaves Hackett, Brumbaugh, Daoust, and Moore. I don't recall any of these guys being forces on the recruiting trail.

Moore may be on the hot seat. I think Jersey Orange said that when he was hired he was viewed as a very average hire. If Moore is indeed getting off on the wrong foot with coaches in NJ (as another thread here suggested) and his name/resume don't seem to be paying dividends with recruits, maybe he gets let go.

Brumbaugh I am not sure about. I doubt we keep 2 DL coaches going forward. Daoust was hand picked by Shafer. If Brumbaugh is viewed as a recruiting liability, he may be out.

Hackett, not sure what to make of it. If we drop him then we need to get an OC who can also coach QB's. Is Kevin Rogers available? ;)

I would not be surprised to see any of those you mentioned part ways. Hackett has Sundays written all over him, and will probably land a job in the league someday.

Brumbaugh, I think would head to a gig down south if the opportunity presented itself.

Daoust was just brought in, and is a SS guy so I think he sticks.

Moore - I do not know enough about, but seems to be underwhelming and a liability according to posters on this site ... would HCDM dump him is another question

Based on performance, we really ought to fire the special teams coordinator.
What? There is no one coordinating special teams? Well, then let's fire a piece of everyone who's involved.

Do you have inside information?

Upon what are you basing your assessments?

Not based on any inside info, but wouldn't be surprised to see Anselmo retire if not this year than next.

I know people have discussed Moore as a recruiter but how can anyone here actually comment on his coaching abilties? Curious. I would actually like to know, not judging eitherway. I know there have been dropped passes but that happens everywhere. It looks like he had done a good job with Graham to me.

People wanted Conley gone three years ago, bees was willing to keep him at specials. last year and the year before he was a genius, now this year he stinks again. Smith and Hogue may have helped call me crazy. That said, my position is, if you can't recruit at Syracuse you have no place being here because you need to be great at it to get good results here

Maybe there's a reason by Darius is getting more involved in the program. Always said he'd be a great position hire. Let him recruit NJ and NFla.

Amen. Would be a great hire in my opinion.

I do not have inside info. My reasoning (back of the brainvelope) was something like this.

Shafer has done a good job with the defense overall. This year we are breaking in a lot of young guys and it shows. He seems to do well recruiting in Florida. Marrone can pretty much leave the defense entirely to Shafer, and the two are aligned in their philosophies. If the defense struggles again next year, I may change my mind. For now he is safe.

Conley is a homer. He developed Smith and Hogue well, and I expect big things from the LB's next year after they've had another year of S&C and film study. I don't know if Conley is tearing it up on the recruiting trail, but I think he is safe given his body of work and the intangibles.

Wheatley is our best recruiter by far. He is safe.

Anselmo can play the role of the HC behind the scenes and is instrumental in cementing our relationships down in NYC. He is versatile enough to coach defensive backfield and LB's. Helps out with running the program due to past experience. He is here until he chooses to go.

Adkins gets us access to just about any JUCO / prep kid so that we can at least plead our case. His recruiting contacts are widespread, especially down south where we are beginning to gain a foothold. The jury is out on the OL - with Marrone and Adkins working this unit, and the continued issues, I believe it is a problem of talent and not of coaching. The guys we have brought in via the normal route and are developing seem to be solid, with the possible exception of Chibane, who may have hit his ceiling. I am confident that the OL will be fine going forward with current staff. Guys like Pugh, Hickey, Trudo, Curtis, will get us to where we want to be.

I would replace Hackett in a heartbeat with another OC/QB guy. I would need more info to know about Moore's work with the WR's behind the scenes and his recruiting efforts. I would drop one of Brumbaugh and Daoust, maybe move Anselmo to specials full time (and emphasize the heck out of it), and bring in Darius to coach secondary if he is amenable.
