SU DL coach Tim Daoust is not going to be Toledo's new defensive coordinator. They hired someone else a couple of days ago.

Linkage

Meanwhile, RU cannot get anyone to take their OC and DC positions. Robb Smith became the latest to turn down the DC job recently. Brian Angelichio turned down the OC job a while ago as well. It is incredibly hard to hire staff when the head coach is a dead man walking.

I didn't realize that Angelichio turned down the OC job there.

Wow talk about a reality check for them. Turns down a P5 coordinator job to take the TE job for the Cleveland Browns.

Ouch.

Any idea if he would have jumped if he was offered the job? Or any idea if he was offered the job but he turned it down?

That's awesome news about Daoust -- he is either a beast master or maker of beast masters or both.

That same article mentions that Michigan RB Thomas Rawls is ransferring to Central Michigan, one of our opponents next year, for his senior season.

Former Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen expected to be Rutgers new OC, sources told @ESPN

Saturday, November 29th is going to be like an early Christmas morning for Friedgen.
Rutgers playing at Maryland to close out the regular season.

Fridge is going to be 67 years old in April. I doubt he is going to be a HC ever again.

If your purpose in a P5 conference is to provide cable channel subscribers and nothing more (as basically admitted to by everyone who has spoken of the selection process), are you really a P5 school? :)

Still, Rutgers is gonna Rutgers. Greg Robinson was right about one thing: that Rutgers is a one hit wonder.

I can't believe he left retirement for this job. He's been sitting on his La-Z-boy since was fired three and a half years ago.

He won't have to sit out?

Great news about Daoust! And I too thought the Fridge was retired for good. Shocked he would come out of the good life of retirement to go to Rutgers.

It is truly amazing the damage that Debbie Yow did to UMd athletics when you examine it closely. She couldn't get on with Gary Williams and forced him out. She completely bungled the Friedgen/Franklin coaching succession plan and lost them both. Neither program has recovered from those blows. On top of all that, she led a disastrous campaign to renovate Byrd which put the AD up to their eyeballs in red and led them right into the hands of the B1G. It is stunning to me that she got an arguably higher profile job on the back of all that carnage.

I don't know that turning down that an OC or DC job for a position coach in the NFL is all that out of the ordinary. It probably comes down to your career goals.

Daoust and Lester will be very coveted . The longer we can hold onto them the better
Not trying to troll, but how would anyone know about Lester. He's a former D2(3?) coach who coaches QBs for a team that struggled with QB play for the better portion of the season. Are you implying OC in the MAC or similar level non-FBS?
