So, tonight I will criticize JB a bit. I felt he should have gotten Buddy some rest in the second half. Torrence played great in the first half and Buddy did not have his legs on his shots starting mid 2nd half. His shot was short every time. It really stagnated us for a good stretch and against a competent team, it could have gotten very dicey. It was a low risk to play Symir with how good he was looking.

I agree with this but will point out that the reason why Buddy lost his legs was because of the energy he was investing in his defensive efforts up to that point, which was really great to see and was probably the reason we won the game. Hope it continues and that JB will give him enough breathers to sustain it...

And he took 19 shots making only 6. It's good we won but he needed a blow and Symir was more than up to the task on both ends last night.

Symir was just excellent last night. Very poor coaching by Jimmy to only get him 10 minutes......inexcusable.

Also, very disappointed to see Buddy revert to being Black Hole Buddy after a stretch of averaging 5 assts per game over three games.....yesterday.....NADA !!! The problem with Buddy (aside from Daddy giving him far too many minutes) is that when his shot is off he thinks the solution is to keep forcing em up, instead of being patient and waiting for good shots, and trying to help his teammates play better. yes, shooters have to keep shooting, but they dont have to keep forcing shots. Sorry, he just plays too often like he has to get his and only seems to have good passing games once he has gotten his. I am very disappointed in his game yesterday after his nice three game stretch. One thing to have a bad shooting night, another to be a ball hog.

I want to give big kudos to Frank who more than held his own on a night that just wasn't Jesse's.

And, of course, Cole was terrific and Joe really came thru at crunch time !!!

All in all, I think it if the Boeheim's did not have such a bad night between poor coaching and ball hogging that we win by 20 + easily.

I've never been of the belief that anytime a shooter misses two straight shots on the short end, he is automatically tired. Sometimes guys just miss shots and some of those are short.

That said, Buddy was a C+ last night and one could reasonably argue Symir and Joe shoulda grabbed a few minutes in the backcourt together. But let's not forget, we lost 3-4 second half leads this season, too. JAB has not forgotten this.

My problem with Buddy is the ball stopping. I know he is trying to get one to go thru the hoop but his behind the back dribble/push is a dead man's curve move. He often bogs things down knowing we need him to get going if we want to win - at those times I would like to see JB give him a blow and whisper "share the ball". gotta contribute other ways when you don't score.

Buddy’s defense won that game?

What color is the sky in your world?

I get pressing a bit in the first half when Jesse got his second foul, but he can’t be shooting 19 times when Cole is NBA Jam on fire.

Leveling for pace and assuming the other guys are at playing ok, I’d like Buddy to be at like 12-14 shots.

I would also push some of Jimmy’s field goal attempts to Jesse and Cole and Joe (if Joe is getting good looks).

We are just going to let it go.
Houston is the rational actor and is bejng fair.
Some people will spin no matter what.
99,9% of the fanbase wouldn’t say that on this one will should just let him say whatever we have won 4 in a row.
It’s not true and will all know it.

I was fair more frustrated that Jimmy had the 2nd most shots than Cole than Buddy doing what he is told to do.
The team is on more when Cole is good.

Yeah, I can’t back this up with stats, but it feels like when Cole is on, that is our tipping point to being a team that can really hit fifth gear.

Jesse will be efficient and get us his 7-10 game. Buddy will be our volume guy. Joe may hit a few. But when Cole is on, the other team, if they aren’t a good offensive team, looks deflated, because at that point, it’s pick your poison and they can’t keep up.

Now, with that said, our defense is so suspect that we may just get our teeth kicked in sometimes.

But I will say, the two games before this, we were over 50% FGs and 3s. This game we were under.

Solid win, Cole had a huge part of that.

We won the game due to Buddy's defense? SMH.

Right- and BC has been a team that plays well at home. Not so much to say they are "good" at home but certainly better. We shot under 40 pct for the game (albeit 45 pct from 3) and yet won on the road.

Cole had a massive hand in that. Also he may be the first kid I've seen actually look like a leader on the floor in a while. He is vocal, animated and also very collected.

there were at least 3 or four times in the game that buddy either lunged for air on D or lunged and got a slight deflection but not possession...and the other team then had an easy score

Ive never seen a player in 30 years of watching basketball that this happens to more than buddy

the one time he dove on floor .he got nothing and then BC hit a wide open 3 where buddy usually is in the zne

the effort was there but the results? eh

thing is, i dont think theres anything he can really do...lack of speed is the problem...hes gotta keep going for the steals bc they are right there...a normal su player usually gets them when buddy goes for one...hes just so slow he doesnt get them...

Actually it was Symir's D, he made a great play to get us the ball that enabled Joe's daggar three.

In a normal game - there is no planet where Jimmy should get more shots than Swider or Jesse.

5-8 shots a game for Jimmy is where it should be. The occasional spike in that is fine when he is hot or has a massive mismatch.
Jimmy is a solid player. Last night's game "fit" him, as BC focused on Buddy and Edwards (while he was in). Then in the last 7-8 minutes, we held the ball (eating clock) and Jimmy is one of the few that is able to drive late in the shot clock and get a shot up on the rim. He was good last night, I thought.

Vanilla! :)

Kind of a corollary thought, I like bringing Symir in when Jessie goes out; balancing the defensive capabilities to some degree. He could replace Buddy, Jimmy, Cole, or JGIII depending on who is playing well and the other team's lineup.

I also like leaving JGIII in when Symir comes in because Joe's handle is excellent for a 2G. Oh, and Joe is hitting 3s at a 43% rate.
