all this talk about inadequate talent is just a poor cover-up for the disturbing lack of leadership on this team both from the coaching level and at the player level. this roster proved it is talented enough in the wvu game, good enough with proper scheming and play calling. that game EXPOSED the coaching staff and should have answered questions about our kids being good enough!

other thoughts/problems:

* we had more first downs and just about the same total yardage. what does that tell ya? our specials are horrible and set them up with great field position all day while poor blocking on returns AND THE INABILITY OF GRAHAM AND KOBENA TO CATCH THE BALL WITH FORWARD MOMENTUM BECAUSE OF RETREATING FROM THE 3-5 YD LINE TO THE GOAL LINE AND CATCHING THE BALL FLAT FOOTED! this has been going on all year and remains unaddressed. this is a high school fb fundamental!

* how marinovich started for 3 years blows my mind! forty something starts and eighty something tackles? really? really? think about that for a d-end. he cant graduate soon enough...go open up your bong shop!

* why does hackone insist on throwing slants to graham??? speed guys hate such a route and if you havent sent him on a few go routes prior, why would a slant work? he is obviously uncomfortable recieving a hard slant throw.

* beating a dead horse but nassib is mechanical, has no peripheral vision and feel for a rush, crumbles with just a little pressure, and is so programmed to not throw a pick or fumble he goes down easy and overthrows any route a reciever is not WIDE open. he did a BASEBALL SLIDE on a designed qb run yesterday! remember when he was our running qb changing up paulus? lol if this kid had half of paulus's feel for the game, moxy, and ability to ad lib he would be dangerous.

* THINK HUNT, BROYLD, AND KINDER deserve a real shot next year. i know nassibs senior bias will prevail but honestly, the reset button should be hit for spring practice. this offense is limited in protecting nassibs weaknesses...

* SHAFER needs to take a hit. he had to stop one player yesterday and failed misreably to do so...we didnt pressure their young qb and failed to play physical

* as far as the play calling, well, i am exhausted talking about it at this point, its pathetic...we fail to move the pocket, fail to play deceptive speed offense, and simply scheme our offense to use 3 downs to pick up 10 yards...zero aggression...

for all who called 6-6 and feel we are on pace and schedule...please wake up...its about HOW we arrived at 6-6, 5-7 and its disturbing...

I just posted this on another thread - the Big East is terrible and SU's talent is not far below what everyone else has on the field. SU kicked the crap out of the one school that wins the recruiting battles - WVU - so why does that never get mentioned out here?

This team is regressing. Almost no players have been developed this year. Guys who have played multiple years don't even show up on game days - e.g., Marinovich. The position coaches are not making anyone better - and somehow more times than not guys seem to be getting worse.

SU is getting its butt beat by teams with equal talent - in some cases you could argue slightly better and in others I could argue slightly worse. SU is not in the SEC - the Big East sucks and yet DM gets blown out at home time and time again (many times in 'must win' situations).

Terrible schemes - no (at least obvious) motivational strengths - no individual improvement (some guys have regressed since game one of LAST year) - all point to coaching. The talent argument, like the weather and facilities, only goes so far. Guys go into other programs and win right away using the "weak" talent that they inherited and recruit better talent immediately (e.g., in both cases UVA for one) yet at SU there are nothing but excuses.

And DM's current roster is much faster and more athletic than what was at SU 3 years ago (Flaherty at LB was painful to watch).

thank you! yes, its excuses... this league was set up to be taken with some aggressive play calling and like you said, development of our players. all we here is that graham and kobena are burners but lack hands...well, heck lets see them drop one! we havent even tried. our athleticism can play with alot of programs...we beat plenty of 4 star sthletes on wvu's squad and if you look closely, we hit and ran with usc! the difference was us having alot of young db's on the field. we played with them in the trenches! tired of excuses and marrone's depressing demeanor!

You're right. I surrender. Fire him now.

just dont count him in as our 30 years savior...lets forget and stop comparing our mediocrity to robinson's 4-8 seasons...and stop hailing his solid background. marrone's teams are just more organized and better conditioned than robinson's...thats it! and marrone has had his share of off field problems with kids...so, all the supposed discipline from within doesnt have us on a pedestal...
