all this talk about inadequate talent is just a poor cover-up for the disturbing lack of leadership on this team both from the coaching level and at the player level. this roster proved it is talented enough in the wvu game, good enough with proper scheming and play calling. that game EXPOSED the coaching staff and should have answered questions about our kids being good enough!
other thoughts/problems:
* we had more first downs and just about the same total yardage. what does that tell ya? our specials are horrible and set them up with great field position all day while poor blocking on returns AND THE INABILITY OF GRAHAM AND KOBENA TO CATCH THE BALL WITH FORWARD MOMENTUM BECAUSE OF RETREATING FROM THE 3-5 YD LINE TO THE GOAL LINE AND CATCHING THE BALL FLAT FOOTED! this has been going on all year and remains unaddressed. this is a high school fb fundamental!
* how marinovich started for 3 years blows my mind! forty something starts and eighty something tackles? really? really? think about that for a d-end. he cant graduate soon enough...go open up your bong shop!
* why does hackone insist on throwing slants to graham??? speed guys hate such a route and if you havent sent him on a few go routes prior, why would a slant work? he is obviously uncomfortable recieving a hard slant throw.
* beating a dead horse but nassib is mechanical, has no peripheral vision and feel for a rush, crumbles with just a little pressure, and is so programmed to not throw a pick or fumble he goes down easy and overthrows any route a reciever is not WIDE open. he did a BASEBALL SLIDE on a designed qb run yesterday! remember when he was our running qb changing up paulus? lol if this kid had half of paulus's feel for the game, moxy, and ability to ad lib he would be dangerous.
* THINK HUNT, BROYLD, AND KINDER deserve a real shot next year. i know nassibs senior bias will prevail but honestly, the reset button should be hit for spring practice. this offense is limited in protecting nassibs weaknesses...
* SHAFER needs to take a hit. he had to stop one player yesterday and failed misreably to do so...we didnt pressure their young qb and failed to play physical
* as far as the play calling, well, i am exhausted talking about it at this point, its pathetic...we fail to move the pocket, fail to play deceptive speed offense, and simply scheme our offense to use 3 downs to pick up 10 yards...zero aggression...
for all who called 6-6 and feel we are on pace and schedule...please wake up...its about HOW we arrived at 6-6, 5-7 and its disturbing...
