Codie Hornsby transferring to Tulsa

Good luck to Codie.

I always think to myself it’d be great to hear it from the players themselves why they make the decisions they make… and I just did… and honestly I’m more confused now than I was before. The story’s a bit clunky but maybe that’s because he has a limited amount of characters to unpack it? Idk

The TL/DR version?

He was the starter going into camp.

He was injured, and missed over half of Spring Ball.

He lost his starting job?

Something about needing to take care of his daughter and having to portal somewhere where he can start and maybe get NFL attention?

IDK either.

Yeah that’s kinda what I gathered it just seemed weird. Injured, out for a few weeks, not starting, bounces? I get having to earn your spot back but it seemed pretty clear they didn’t am have a great answer at center so why throw in the towel after a couple weeks in the spring? Weird

The only Hornsby I can recall

If he was going to be the starting center, I don't know why he'd leave because of an injury.

Uh, because of the injury?

Causing him to lose his starting spot?

But he was out like, what 4 weeks? And sure, probably by end of Spring ball that caused him to be behind a little. But if someone cant reconcile that he will more likely than not (assuming what he's saying is true) be the starter by the end of actual camp, they either have a weak disposition or weren't confident they were going to ultimately be the start anyways.

If he was good enough to be the starter, you don't think he would be good enough to be the starter again in August when he's healthy?

Is he a competitor? Because if he doesn't think he can win the starting job back when he already had it, he's not good enough to play here.

Bingo and a lot of them did not leave for $$$$$$$$. In fact I do not think a single OL left for more $$$$$
If you go back to December defections there was absolutely at least one,

I'm thinking Hornsby may have been the starter going into camp because really we didn't have any other options. And Fran didn't really get to see how he did or progressed as he was out the entire Spring . Maybe then Fran decided that without that assurance of knowing if Hornsby indeed did have what it takes, it was necessary to make a roster addition. Now with that added competition there Hornsby thinks a different opportunity may be in his best interest?
