Cole Swider is terrific!

Is he a game changer x-factor new CJ-Fair or Joseph this season? I really like Cole's game and what he brings to this team. Having Cole is going to free up Buddy from being the primary focus on offence. He's also going to help Girard's game this season. Having one extra shooter on the wing is so huge. Jimmy B is also a pretty good to have as the 3rd guy to score but I really like Cole's game and his height!

Yes, great play by our guy on that drive to be aggressive and sometimes you get that 50/50 call. Not that time.

On Swider, I agree. We had 3 shooters on the perimeter last year, when Allen Griffin was on. Swider looks like he will be a better passer and less streaky than Griffin. The better perimeter ball movement should help Girard get better looks. We should get more inside finishes with improvement from Edwards, so that will help the spacing for the shooters.

We have covered it in quite a few threads but Nova plays a switching mtm D. He got switched onto smaller guards a lot as a result which is a mismatch. That and his game in general wasn't a fit.

Wasn't 50/50 that year, more like 90/10. That year they just started to institute that if the "offensive player began his motion" rule so everything they were calling that year was a block. That is until a critical call at the end of Duke game at Cameron came up.

And Cole is already my favorite player on this team! Having Kadari with him on the court would have been nice.

In a recent interview he said that he actually had goose bumps looking forward to how this offense fits his style/skills. He is a great fit for this team and those who were worried about replacing Q's offensive contribution should rest much easier. Cole is 3-5 inches taller than Q and has a far more advanced offensive skill set.

Quincy was listed at 6'7" and is lucky if he's 6'5". It's one of the reasons he had to work so hard to play inside. Imo, it's also one of the reasons why he chose to transfer because he stated he wanted to play more on the outside. He has PF skills inside a SG/SF body.

I would love to see Cole develop a little back to the basket game, kind of like how Buddy has. Having two players able to utilize their size on mismatches on the floor at the same time would be huge. Numerous plays can be run just to get defenses to be forced to switch off and create mismatches/easy looks when you have 2 players who can take their smaller defenders in the paint. It would really help to offset not having the player who can create off the bounce this year

Also in the exhibitions, when going one on one for a rebound he would lose the battle half of the time.

I thought he said he grew up a Duke fan? I think he picked Villanova the first time around because they won two national championships more recently and figured he would learn more from Wright. Plus, a higher possibility of winning a national championship on the way to the NBA doesn't sound too shabby either. Idk, all I care about is that he is here now and he can better showcase his skills to the NBA scouts playing for 'Cuse than Nova.

The joke restricted area at the time was the diameter of a shot glass .. just encouraged teams to stand under the bucket with their hands up as if that is good D

I agree... That was an egregiously blown call. An I-wish-I-could-subpoena-that-official's-finances bad call.

Or, as pointed out elsewhere, how every Duke game is called. We don't hate them only because they are successful.

I've been extremely high on Cole Swider since I saw his first video after committing here, but beating up on Lafayette is neither here nor there. I like that everybody is raving about him in a game where he didn't shoot all that well.

Why isn’t Cole Swider returning next year? He’s definitely been a positive factor, improved over the year and I’d think another year as an experienced major player on SU’s team could only help not just SU but personally improve and diversify his own game. I’d love to see him improving his ball handling on drives to the basket, the ability to take more advantage of shooting over smaller defenders, using his fully developed physique to add more power to his game including some post up moves. I think he’s really improved his game but his eventual ceiling is still higher.
