Coleman...

he'd be 10 th best on the lakers right now. don't quit ur day job
Silly me, I thought you'd really appreciate TBCuse11's shallow and inflexible arguments.

I'm not sure why the merits of this approach are so hard for some people to understand. And it's simply not true that SU always falls behind early in games, as so many on this board seem to believe.
DC2 almost cost us again with the slow start...oops, wrong game. Okay, so it doesn't always happen.

The fickle nature of this board. According to the recent threads JB now needs to be held accountable for his decision not to have DC2 in there at the end. I've got to admit I was pulling for DC2 on the offensive/defensive substituting that JB was doing, bringing in DC2 along with Cooney would have brought a smile to my face.

This thread is so 2 days ago. But it is rare to see a criticism flip so quickly. It is easy to envision a loss right there without DC2.

The fact that anyone old watch the game last night and think it proved anything, is scary. People do realize that he gave up twice as many points as he scored, right? He scored 14, but the guys he guarded (or should have rotated to) must have had 20+ easily. i guess this Board is full of Monte Ellis fans as well. If DC2 was worth anything, Jim would have had him in when it mattered. Rak and Baye had brutal games.

But, as should be clear to anyone with a pulse Coleman is our 3rd option at center. This was my point all along, and it stands true. His defense hurts us 5 times as much as his limited offense helps us...

(i did love the driving left hand layup he pulled off though. that was fantastic.)

Thanks fellas.

Appreciate the love for my username story too, here goes:

Story behind the username: I was a senior on the Hill for the magical 2003 run. Was bartending at the local Marshall street wateringhole (that used to be the legendary "44s" - ah, memories of Split Day, I only got to enjoy it once) at the time ("Konrads" at this time), and a few days after SU won it all, the entire team strolled into a packed weekend crowd at the bar while I was working. They were allowed to come behind the bar and serve drinks for people, when none other then Carmelo Anthony came over to my side of the bar and requested a "Henny and Coke, please".

Did it matter that is was common knowledge that the guy was 18 years old? You guessed it...not at all! I made him his drink, and he kinda just chilled in the background, sipping his Henny and Coke, taking it all in. Other players were taking orders and serving drinks for the customers...it was a wild scene, and something I will never forget.

Henny and Coke! On the house. Was the least I could offer for this guy who helped make so many great, lifelong memories for me and my family.

great story. Carmelo really did change SU hoops forever.

So are you saying you preferred seeing Baye foul out in 12 minutes and only manage 2 points. Or that Roc's performance of 0 points & 3 rebounds in 22 minutes was the better option? And by your estimation Coleman gave up 28 points to St. Francis in the 18 minutes he played? It seems like you're reaching for something to prove your point. Don't get me wrong, I think our center rotation is going to be a game by game thing, but DC was CLEARLY the best option last night. 14 & 6 in 18 minutes, and perfect from the field and the FT line.

Do you rout for Dc2 to do badly? I understand preferring one player to another but not putting one down when he had a very good game because you prefer the other players.

DC2 is not responsible for every point scored against us when he is in the game. I understand that he isn't as good defensively as Baye and Rak right now but its not like either of them were great last night on D either and neither provided any offensive punch. Baye fouled a lot and missed a couple rotations himself. Rak had the same issue as DC2 when isolated one on one with the big guys. Rak did well after Baye fouled out but not to much before that. I honestly think it wasn't all on our centers last night though. The wings and guards did a poor job stopping penetration and a very poor job at disrupting passes to the post and especially not blocking off the easiest passing angles inside. Also the wings didn't help down until late, they usually left the center 1on1.

Some of the biggest screw-ups in the game were on the defensive end when:

1) Rak allowed the St. Francis forward to drive to his left for the and 1
2) Keita continually tried to jump in front of St. Francis players a second late to draw a charge

Now, Keita also had some big plays on this end down the stretch, his length and ability to crowd guys in small places using the baseline/sideline is very useful, but I disagree at the disparity in defensive ability between DC and Keita, as some have implied here.

I also missed the first ten minutes of the game and my feed was awful, so my apologies if I missed something.

I can understand resisting the urge to draw conclusions after a small sample size, but your OP did just that, and even said "I have been to all 3 home games". So, this additional game seems like it would be a significant data addition.

DC2 left the game with SU up eight. Seems like he had a very good +/-. Saying "If DC2 was worth anything, JB would have had him in when it mattered" sounds like hate speak. JB likes to have a developed trust with players. This game probably helped DC2 in that regard, but it doesn't immediately put DC2 in over a senior BMK. And just because a player is not in when it matters does not mean the player is worthless, c'mon.

I'm glad to see you toning down your stance and having your point be that DC2 is our third center. But in your OP you did state "I just don't think he deserves to play" and "Forget about the super-sub idea".
