Colorado fires Karl Dorrell / hires Deion Sanders

Prime will kill it at Colorado.
If I'm a player in the portal or even thinking about it, I'd have to seriously consider CU. They have a good history, and media will be around them 24/7 because of Prime. This is a homerun hire w/ minimal downside.

One player can make a difference there. It won't at Colorado he needs about 25 of those. That is asking a lot.
He got 2 recruits from the top 100, including the number 1 recruit in the nation, to go to (as said before) JACKSON STATE. We’d be drooling over that, and the recruiting potential it signifies, if it were Syracuse.

I see him turning Colorado in to a competitive team in 2 years and then eventually landing at Miami.

Good for Colorado but if he’s only there a few years is this really worth it?

To paraphrase a certain curly-haired redhead from Queens: “You can’t be serious”!
I mean, take a look at Jackson State and the attention they’ve been getting for the last few years. I hadn’t even heard of them before Prime got there.
If after 3 years you have tons of 5-4 stars on your roster, unending media attention, and sold out stadiums wherever you play, and not to mention hiring another rock star HC to replace him when he’s gone? Yeah….I’d say it’d be “really worth it”.

That feeling when you went to an HBCU for the culture but your coach leaves for a power conference job.

Main question for me is Shadeur good enough to be a starter at a P5 school? Thought USF was the perfect move for him to level up. This could be too aggressive for bother father and son.

Will definitely be an interesting case study. Not to hard to out recruit your competition at Jackson State, but playing in the PAC may be a different story. I don't doubt he'll land a few big recruits, but it's going to take more than that to compete for championships.

It's proportionally the same. We can't get 5 star recruits here. He didn't out-recruit his competition at Jackson State, he out-recruited everyone. He also doesn't need to out-recruit SEC teams, just his competition. He'll likely do that easily.

Or his alma mater, Florida State.
I think Norvell will have long term success at Florida State but yes, that would no doubt be Sanders preferred landing spot.

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I don't see Sanders having a lot of success at Colorado. There's a LOT more to being a HC at a P5 school than recruiting (look at Miami). Colorado's fortunes have nowhere to go but up, but Sanders' charisma will only take him so far. Isn't the board wisdom that players today don't really care about someone who played before they were born?

He's a great hire for Colorado. A lot of folks forget that they were a real power in the Big 8 at one time, so it's amazing how they fell of the face of the Earth when McCartney left. It's not like he's taking over a team that has moved up from D-1AA and was never anything to write home about in that division. As was noted he can offer a lot of new players a lot of immediate PT.

I think Norvells floor just was raised to minimum 9 wins a year or he's gone.

They won't wait for Prime if he has early returns at Colorado - they'll make a change, rightly or wrongly, the first down season Norvells has

I think he is gonna kill it. It’s a beautiful place as I have seen McCarthy video of how he got players there in 90 s

Yes, usually. But Deion is probably an exception to that rule. He was also on TV when all these kids grew up so he's got more staying power. Plus he was a rare two sport star. If Bo Jackson had stayed healthy and then went into broadcasting...that's probably the only comparable.

The key to me is how he delegates and manages his staff. If he can put together a good coaching staff, I think this is a home run hire for Colorado. They've got a beautiful campus and lots of kids want to go to school in Boulder. I wouldn't say it's a sleeping giant but I think he should have success there and he'll move on. I'm more surprised he didn't get interest from other schools but guess only Colorado was willing to take the gamble.

That’s actually I really good point and I’d say yea every time

I get where you’re coming from though and when I think that in other situations, I ask myself that same question LOL
