Cool - Shulman and Bilas doing games

Bilas really knows his Cuse hoops. He was rattling off all these names from the late 70s before the game started, and spent a solid minute talking about Stevie Thompson.

Bilas LOVES Stevie Thompson. It's not the first time I've heard him mention him, and other times have been when SU wasn't even playing.
And why not? What's not to love? He was amazing.
We basically ran a 3-guard system with him at "small forward", but lost nothing on D, on the boards, and Stevie could board and finish in traffic better than anyone his size, ever. Too bad he couldn't shoot or hit FT's.

Dont forget there are some people that believe that Bilas hates SU and he talks smack about us at every chance.

He was not always a friend of the program. Something happened few years ago and he now loves us.

Ah, there are some people who believe lots of things that have no basis in reality.
Bilas LOVES Boeheim too. He was thiiiiis close to playing for him, but chose Duke instead.
So he's known JB since he (Bilas) was in HS.

That doesn't mean he won't be objective or critical when the situation merits it.
That said - I was REALLY happy that he specifically listed SU's list of NCAA 'violations', and what a joke they were, and how the penalties were completely out of proportion to the transgressions, such as they were.

Stevie Thompson played like he was a quick, athletic 6 foot 8 when he went down low.

I don't think I've ever encountered one. But maybe I'm just hanging out in the the wrong places.

Guy at work hates him becasue he says he talks smack about us during our games when he calls them, and there was a thread on here where a few people said they didn't like Bilas for the same reasons...I just tried searching for it but couldn't find it

Personally I love the guy, great analyst and fun to listen to.

Whenever Bilas does a game I'm LOL every few minutes - the guy is flat out the best!

Just about to watch the game so I will see what he was like today. I do like him and think he was at one time clearly the best.

But he has really did a major disservice to himself and his great abilities, by focusing way too much on whining about referee calls (often borderline) the past few years.

Especially with the NCAA news coming out today. Cannot wait to hear Bilas rip the NCAA once again.

Bilas DID rip the NCAA for their overly harsh penalties against our relatively pedestrian infractions.

He also went off on them for their botched handling of the Diallo situation.

I think that Bilas, perhaps unintentionally, will be a catalyst for the eventual / inevitable change that topples the NCAA. I say unintentional, because I don't think that he's setting out to do it, but he uses his bully pulpit to call the NCAA out on their hypocrisy and capricious, arbitrary enforcement of the rules.

Not to be argumentative but I do think he's purposely on a crusade to improve the NCAA for colleges and athletes. The NCAA says they include non institutional employees including lawyers etc on committees for a fair minded objective balance. Would love to see them ask Bilas to join them in some capacity to improve the NCAA and address the obvious problems collegiate athletics is facing.

If I remember correctly, his vertical was 44". Said it before and I'll say it again that he was my favorite SU player ever.

NCAA's rear end a bit wider now after Bilas and Shulman said their piece. Even the guys in the studio, including Jay Williams, ripped them. Fine with me. Good job.

Yep. You said it better than I did. Thanks.

These guys are great together but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss Raf.
