Cornell Gameday...

They are so, so, close to being one of the top programs.

One thing that needs to be addressed is scheduling.
That can't just be a Gary thing.

It's understandable why they play more games earlier than most others, thanks to the Dome. But that may need to lighten a bit going forward.

Booking ND & Cornell so close together was a huge mistake.

Move this game, or the ND game to next weekend and win one of the Maryland/Army games and it there would be a totally different feeling around the program.

They've shown that they've got the pieces. They'll be put together for a great season next year. Book it!
We still have all the goals in reach this year. ACC and NCAA tournament. Need this break to reset. A lot of game left.

They need to take the break and come back hungry n motivated focus and take it to unc n uva and whoever else gets in way. Now is time to start the run. The seniors and the captains need to make sure guys are practicing hard working on big things and little things. Only way that “what just happen” gets by passed. They come out and beat unc n uva then on, that horrible lost becomes that “lost” that fueled the fire for syracuses magical run.

I agree i’m not sure what mule brings to table mean he does make some good feeds and did bury some good goals right in front of net. But he is unable to make anything for himself. Joey, leo , english even rhoa at crunch time needs to call for the ball. Everyone needs to work on picking up gbs and contested gbs. When do go for gbs n defender there one needs to call ball other needs to call man n do it. Was thompson n leo believe both going for ball with 1 cornell guy thompson tried to one hand pick up got check leo went for defender running by ball. Defense needs to continue the good and get better at what needs work. One be not sliding or half slide when no angle or guy isn’t beat. Offense has to attack attack attack score score score. No matter if 10 goal lead or 1goal lead. Never let off pedal never lack effort on any play even simple play. Any player not serious or showing taking it serious get them out and put someone else in who will give it their all.

I normally rewatch all games win or lose. Like to see if missed anything plus see good things n bad things n just analyze fully. However i can not rewatch yesterdays game. Only a game wanna live once .

Orange come out on a mission. You guys are too talented to smart to play and allow that game to be your mark. Now is then endgame. Go out play like lives depend on it and show its now big boy syracuse lacrosse time.

i'll echo above about not watching a replay. we blew a huge lead. don't need to see the self immolation.
as a mr bright side comment i will say 3 of our losses were OT and 4th we lost by just 2 to # 1 .
so there's that. gotta finish stronger.

coached tons of games across lots of sports never came close to matter what the refs did to touching them. you can get every point across you want without that level of interaction.

As much as that hurt SU still had a 6 goal lead into the 4th didnt they?

if the SU goalie didn't play so well Cornell might have won the game by 3-4 goals, he clearly played better than the CU starter and the Cornell change at halftime was a big lift for Cornell.

Interesting to see that Cornell had 10 less draw wins, caused 7 more TOs but yet managed 13 more shots. and the 2nd half it was 28-10 shots for Cornell.

First half SU did a great job of limiting hands free shots and Cornell still got an 8 goal quarter.

Pretty sure Coach March won’t be able to be on the field against UNC.

Opening scheme should be fine. Problem is mid-game adjustments… if Gait can’t move the chess pieces around against his old buddy coaching the UNC D it’ll be a bad look. Big game for GG.

Since Petro doesn't make in-game adjustments anyways...

what are the tiebreakers for seeding in the acc tournament?

hypothetically...if

cuse beats duke
duke beats unc
unc beats cuse

and all three teams lose to nd and uva to finish 1-3 in conference...who gets in? you would end up with...

nd 4-0
uva 3-1
duke 1-3
cuse 1-3
unc 1-3

i presume goal differential comes into play? if so, cuse's 6 goal win over duke and narrow nd loss could come in handy...they're +4 right now. basically wondering if cuse can still get in at 1-3...

this scenario would bank on uva beating duke in the regular season which is never a good bet lol

is it def no march ? Has there been actual rumblings of him not being there? Like from ncaa or inside knowledge ?

If you hold your nose and look at the autopsy, the O was basically continuing to get quality looks on any offensive possession that did not have a dumb turnover.
-Third quarter the offense was still cooking with gas and getting clean looks with ease. Scored twice and got robbed by the Cornell back up goalie on 3 high quality looks. Not much to complain about but lack of finishing.
-4th quarter the clock was moving a lot faster than it had all game. But we were still getting good looking shots for the first half of it. With the flag down we hold it and get a good look inside to Mule that he misses, but then on man up we throw it away. Defense makes a stand, but then Kirst gets the gb on the rebound of a poor shot and Cornell takes another full shot clock and scores. Faceoffs which had been leaning our way were all won by Cornell in that stretch.
-Then in the last four minutes of the 4th/OT we enter chaos meltdown mode. Hiltz misses a routine pass, Mule loses it for no reason trying to iso on an island, defense fails a key clear.
-Even in OT we got a quality look from English and then it was another dumb turnover that sent it the other way. 2nd OT Rhoa takes an ill advised low angle shot early in the shot clock on our first possession. 2nd try at it we get Finn Thomson open on the crease and he gets stuffed as he has been so many times this season (still our most frustrating player).

All this to say the problem was not Cornell adjusting and preventing our offense from getting good looks. I don't know what that means for UNC with no March on the sideline, but it's not like we were getting nothing with the shot clock running down every time after he went to the locker room. Agree with others that having a scout on the match ups/gameplan going in should be enough.
