Cornell Postgame

He’s going to make the change don’t worry. This game proved that Elijah can play and he needed this game to show Red he can handle some tense situational ball too. That 3 he made on the break after the block was courageous lol but he made it. Thats big time
I thought it was a bad shot and we should have taken more time off the clock. I don't think we had anybody underneath to rebound a miss either. It was one of those, "No, no, no, Yes!" shots. It took a lot of cajones for the freshman to take it. The way his night was going it's no surprise he hit it.

The alternative is that more Carlos or Cuffe. I rather have JJ potentially shoot us out of a game than the alternative.
Cuffe played well and created a couple turnovers in maybe 4 minutes why are you taking shots at him? Starling doesn't even try on D most of the time.

I’m thinking it might be more than 12. Cuse was around a 10 point underdog on neutral court vs Texas and Texas Tech. A true road game at a much better Tennessee team has to be worth more than 2 points.
wow, could it be as high as +15, that shows how far we have fallen, it's almost like a mid-major going in there.

Well, by definition a two way player has to contribute on offense. Otherwise he’s a one way player, d only.
I agree, and until tonight I wasn't sure if he could score like at all. Not a lot of shots tonight either but 3-5 from the field with some free throws and 9pts is about all he should need to be doing most nights.

It may not have been the wisest shot ever, but we definitely had a couple guys there to potentially grab rebound:

Audacity.
It's what you need as a young gun. This kid is awesome and works hard for it. Moore of him.

Something more than his typical low-effort sulking must be up with Bell. He was absurdly out of it. And really Stsrling was too. Like it was almost surreal watching the two of them tonight - JJ turned it around ever so slightly in the 2nd half but he was still just... barely there. I get all the consternation abt Carlos thru 6 games but tonight if one of Bell or Starling had just been adequate we win that game by 20

It’s amazing to me what poor choices the transfers are turning out to be. JC requires no further discussion. Lampkin is hurt. To be honest is anyone shocked? J Davis could be a good player if he didn’t think he was PJ Tucker/Grant Williams, you’re a terrible three point shooter don't shoot them. Lucas is fine for the role he is playing. Play Choppa and Donnie as much as possible. See if JJ can play anything resembling a point guard. Hope Eddie gets healthy. Then clean house. Bring back Choppa and Petar and start fresh.

JJ can't go 3-17 in any more games this year. There is no way you allow someone to miss that many shots in a game.
JJ shouldn't take 17 shots unless he is having lucky streak, he's not a great finisher, he's not a great three point shooter, he shoots a lot of mid range shots with a hitch and is a dreadful free throw shooter, why is he getting that many shots?

Because Red set it up that way. Look at how the offense was run the entire second half, it was setup for JJ to take over. He's not that guy and never will be.

Carlos seems to be running away from the ball at times and going to the corner where he is useless because he can’t shoot threes. Contrary to what Red said in his presser Carlos is not getting guys open looks. And on defense, his defensive field goal percentage against on three-pointers must be sky high. Guys are just shooting over him with ease.
I think Carlos can't see over his defender, I don't know how he did ar Hofstra or there was a better ran offense.

these 2 recruits aren’t so elite that you extend a struggling coach. Big boy programs don’t play scared.

If we knew the precise NIL situation at a macro level and specific to each player I wonder if it would still seem amazing.

Davis has been pretty good. He has the highest offensive rating on the team of all the regulars. He’s only taken 6 3’s and is shooting 53% from the floor with good rebounding and solid defense. It’s his FT shooting that has been an issue, but you can say the same thing about JJ and Lampkin too. Freeman on the other hand has taken 16 3’s.

Have I mentioned how happy I am that you have ZERO decision making power in regards to this program?

You’re right! Just give the ball to Kyle Cuffe and get out of the way!

I disagree with him not being a good finisher. He has been getting to the rim at will and finishing well so far this year. He just looked a little quick last night and was drifting on his pull-ups. Ironically his first 6 FTs looked good and went in. Little to no hitch this game

The fact we're talking about these and he is the "star" means you have the wrong star.

Freeman is our guy, if he is treated as such in terms of touches that'll be the reason we're good.

Is JJ Starling a player you feel comfortable with putting the ball up 17 times? Not me, barely half that. Not sure there is another team this guy ever gets minutes on since McCrosky started.

I have it pegged as 14-16 point underdogs right now.

We both score about the same (81-81.6). But SU yields 24 points more - against inferior competition.
Add 4 for home advantage... 16 points.

But not sure that's how Vegas sees it - because they want money to flow.
So it open as low as 10, and then leak to 16 by tip.

I don’t know what you’re watching honestly. He’s averaging 20ppg, 4.5rpg and 3apg shooting 47%. He scored 38 on 23 shots the other night when no one could do anything and got 27 against Tech. When he is going to the rim he has a gear I haven’t seen in a long time. This is a weird ax to grind.

I watch basketball, you're using stats that don't really mean much.

Anything JJ does on the offense end is automatically negated by his defense.

Anytime he does have the ball in his hands he only distributes it to players in poor position.

He cooked against Youngstown, awesome, he was a zero against Cornell.

My ax to grind isn't with JJ, it's with anyone who thought he was anything more than a 6th man, he shouldn't be starting.

You can't be a good team with him as your guy.
