For anyone concerned about ESPN slanting the story, Roger Cossack was just on SC and stated Tomaselli's father's comments, as well as the fact that Tomaselli himself is an accused child molestor.

Nobody in my opinion can accuse of ESPN slanting the story anymore. They are reporting this just fine in my opinion. I know others disagree and that is fine. You are entitled to. But ESPN is coming off as being correct in the end. And they are giving both sides and Cossack did lay out what the next legal steps probably will be.

Today they are giving both sides. But turning out to be right doesn't excuse the way they ran the story initially.

...only if the original story is correct and factful...then you have to question the morals of Fine as well as the legal system that is supposed to protect but in reality did not in this case...I am so amazed and saddened

Cuse fans had every right to look at this initially through Orange colored glasses. No reason to believe anything bad about Bernie Fine. JB comes out with a very strong statement. Just about every player ever connected with the program has come out with very strong statements. If the head coach and the players that are with him everyday did not know, how would the fans sitting in the stands know.

We jumped all over ESPN and Bobby Davis. Said no way was it true. Well, it looks like we were very wrong. Hard to believe it, but true.

sure it does. They had a story they sat on for 7 or 8 years. They waited till they had more evidence (2nd accuser) to run with it. They waited to play the phone conversation till they were 100% sure it was correct and it was Laurie Fine's voice. ESPN has been by the book on this. And they will end up being correct. What more do you want from them?

yeah, according to them they had the tape when they originally decided to not run with the story. that makes me question them on a complete 180 scale.

i think we may owe schwartz an apology today...

and really hope that for some unknown reason, that tape was never turned over to cuse in 05.

Listened through the tape three more times. Nothing on there says anything about him being molestated prior to 18. Not one thing. The key quote on the tape is this:

" And, it's hard ... " Fine said. "If it was another girl like I told you, it would be easy to step in because you know what you're up against. ... (When) it's another guy, you can't compete with that. It's just wrong, and you were a kid. You're a man now, but you were a kid then."

Everyone is just assuming kid means 12-18. Most likely it was 18-24 range being a "kid". "When it's another guy, you can't compete with that." Key word being compete and "You're a man now, but you were a kid then." It sounds like this was a consensiual relationship and she would have confronted not Bernie, but the other person.

i sincerely hope you are right jjreddawg

Not by the book. Their initial reporting, specifically by Mark Schwarz on OTL, was irresponsible. They didn't know about a third accuser at that time, and only reported one side of it. They ignored all of the evidence that made Davis and Lang appear to not be credible. The ONLY credible evidence at this point is the tape. Today's unveiling of the tape doesn't change how poor their initial reporting was.

Very interesting. Hadn't heard that take before. But it's not good when Davis says Fine pinned him down to do it but he tried to get away but couldn't, and Laurie agreed. Laurie also said he thinks he's above the law.

It now only matters from a legal perspective. Bernie has thoroughly embarrassed the University and no longer deserves to be a part of it. Worse case, he violated one or more little boys. Either way, he should never be allowed back.

Agreed, assuming the allegations are true.

I am baffled that people think people at ESPN would slant a story about SU against them. Half the people who work there graduated from SU. If anything they would hide from this story and they aren't.

some SU fans are still in denial and living in a bubble looking to blame someone or anyone
