What we learned: This game was over when Ed Cooley announced stud point guard Vincent Council would not play. The Friars’ leading scorer might not have affected the final outcome, but he could have helped his squad’s deplorable offense (3-for-14 from beyond the arc, 22 turnovers) against Cuse's press. Council was a beast in PC's 31-point destruction of Louisville earlier this week. But Syracuse proved, again, that it’s the undisputed No. 1 team in the country. SU has separated itself from one of the most competitive leagues in the country. The Orange’s 19-0 start matches the best in school history. With North Carolina losing to Florida State and Kentucky struggling against Tennessee, it’s about time that Syracuse gets more credit for its strong start. Best team. In the country. No debate.

...and just to make the whole thing about team balance rediculous...the wrap also says about Baylor being a potential NC:
Nine players scored for the Bears. Their depth is underrated, and it’s going to be a huge asset in March.

So it continues...win on the road for 'Cuse is not so great...have a balanced 10 man squad without a "Dude" not so geat...no road wins...as many as any other team but not against great teams...HOW CAN sports writers be so cocky to think no one sees the contradictions they paint on a regular basis...I get it...they dont think anyone reads what they write even in the same article.

Am I missing something here? Is there something in there that is supposed to be contradictory? I've been seeing a bunch of "dude" posts; I think I missed a running joke or something.

I think Jay Williams said, "We have no 'go to dude' on the team". He is one of the many who aren't watching SU play, instead thinking they can analyze the team by looking at the rosters statistics. If they did watch the games they would see we have about 5 "dudes" and one very skilled dude named Dion.

Hubert Davis said it yesterday on Gameday.

Gotcha. If Dion played 34 minutes a night, no one would doubt him.

If he played 34 minutes would that make him dude? If it's that simple why won't JB do it!!!!! We need dudes!

apparently Davis and others remind fans that no Dude, go to guy exists on 'Cuse because we have no one we count on for the last shot...needed bucket. Well the answer for those who actually watch this team is:
1. Havent had that situation happen yet
2. 'Cuse has KJ, Waiters, Scoop, Triche, CJ to take that shot if necessary
3. KENPROM says we have three top offensive efficiency players: KJ, Waiters, and Triche...believe only one other team has three...so...screw the Dude...if any of our 5 above played 30 minutes a game they probably would be 20+ scorers...most likely KJ and Waiters but others can too.

This is the key. Waiters is using a ton of shots when he's on the court, and he has a really high true shooting %. If he's not a go to guy, I don't know who is.

I will believe him when he ranks Syracuse higher than #3 which is what he had them at last week,

One of these idiot sports commentators needs to pass me a White Russian and then .

we dropped to 4 (you are talking kenpom, right?)

No on ESPN.com they have their rankings and then they show which person ranked each team. He was the ony one who ranked us not #1 and had us at 3.

Not that it really matters...

I mean come on these are LEAGUE GAMES!

someone call my name?

I don't care so much what anyone has to say at this point. Enough people think we're the best that we're #1, and everything will get settled in the tournament. I wasn't sure we were the best team in the country when we were first voted #1, but I think this team has grown along with my confidence in it.

Sorry, but not CJ. Not yet anyway.

It was Hubert that said we have no go to "dude" However, I read that Jay Williams tweeted that everyone is talking about murray st going undefeated how about the cuse going undefeated they have the depth and talent to do it in the big east so he must be watching us and knows how good we can be

Reguarding to not having a go to guy. IMO...

1. We do absolutely have one in Waiters...
2. We do have 7 guys that can put up double digits quite often. The 6th and 7th guys do once ever 4-5 games atleast. Its all in reguard to how many shots they get really. And MCW or Rak might get there as well by march.

3.But, its all about offensive efficiency. Fair, Triche, KJO, Scoop, James all have off nights. It would be great to see our efficiency numbers go up the next month. No more 4-12 shooting and 3 for 9 shooting.

4. We tried to run the offense with Dion being quiet and still put up 75. Waiters is that good. I really think coach was pulling the reigns to see how we can score without him. Fair shot 3-8 Kris shot 4-10. Melo had a quiet 2-4. James was 1-9. on a bad offnight.

5. Those other guys who are shooting 4-12 and 3-9 need to try to turn those into 6-11 and 7-12 instead of 3-6 and 4-7. They need the motivation and push to do so. The more go to weapons the better.

Also Scoop played awesome last game against providence. He was throwing long passes to the low paint like a stud. He put up 9 assists and on his 10 points he shot 4-5 to be our most efficient scorer. Hes running a efficient no high post offense.
