Dabo to the Texans?

He would be insane to leave Clemson. He has The highest standing possible, the best facilities in the world, unreal compensation...
Why would you leave that? To coach the Texans?

I’m not buying.

Is his wife happy living in small-town upstate SC?

I think the Texans job stinks. Watson is great I get that but that rebuild is not happening overnight.

Why do you say that? Unlike college, NFL can fire at will. NFL teams can, and do, rebuild overnight.

In my opinion, Dabo isn't going anywhere. He's not that foolish. Saban ran back to the college game in a heartbeat after facing the realization (at Miami) that he no longer had an overwhelmingly advantageous talent discrepancy. Just as Saban, Dabo has the luxury of fielding a team year in and year out with a huge talent advantage in the league his team plays in, as well as nationally. Additionally, as Saban, Dabo has an annual contract that bests many NFL coaches contracts, not to mention his endorsements. Clemson's facilities are also second to none as well and better than many in the NFL.

Why be the piss-boy in the NFL, when it's good to be the King! ;):)

Not the Giants.
or the Bengals, or the Browns, or the Jets, Dolphins, Raiders - with no draft picks in the immediate future that is not going to be an easy rebuild. They don't have Herschel Walker to trade.

It’s silly to say no for any reason other than the $ aspect. Coaches leave all the time from jobs that seem like the best possible place for them to be, in situations they probably would never be fired from and with tons of fan support. They still leave. Because that’s what coaches do.

It's not any sillier than to speculate that he would take the job, really.

The Texans have no first or second round picks this year. This job isn’t good.
Watson is a top 10 QB but the defense is aging and they don’t have a lot of cap space.

Whoever takes this job needs to understand the NFL.

If Dabo was going to take an NFL job the Falcons would be a better fit. They have an offense and need to fix their defense. He is a defensive coach.

Depends on what makes Dabo tick. I never thought Coach Mac would leave for the NFL as he always seemed like a great fit for college coaching. Away he went to my surprise. If the Texans keep the same model, with the GM and head coach being the same person, I could see that being an attractive option. If the job is just head coach with a separate GM, probably less attractive.

He might want try his hand at the NFL. And you have a franchise QB there that you happen to know really well. Not a bad place to go.

I could lose a lot of money betting that Dabo stays at Clemson. It is probably the best program in CFB and he built it. Who else can say that? Expectations will be outrageous wherever Dabo hangs his cap.

The guy is a class act. When we beat them his first move was to go into our locker room and congratulate our players and staff.

Other than when playing us, I wish him well.

Matt Ryan is 35 and on the back 9 of his career.

Ill drive him to the airport.

I’ll drive him to the airport to catch his flight to Charlotte in route to Syracuse where he accepts the job as SU’s next coach. Bringing his full staff in tow.

Not convinced either. The ONLY reason the big college coaches have left is ego and to go and dominate at the best level. These days, any smart and level headed coach will figure it out and look at what he is making, the respect his players offer, answering to a college prez instead of a gm, on and on...

These guys all want to win at the NFL level Saban tried it it didn't work out. Would have been alot different if they were smart enough to sign Brees. I don't care how much you love college there is nothing like the NFL. If he wins it all this year with Lawrence leaving this is the perfect time.
