He felt incredible allegiance. He still loves SU.
People usually leave because 1, playing time. Not a issue here I don't think. 2. Money. you say that isn't it. 3. they hate the coach. No idea on that. 4. way down the list, a girl friend. Not many other reasons.

Or maybe he is being lied to by professional liars who have told other kids they would be #1. I wish him well. On the other hand, you don't play football at another school and take classes at Syracuse. That would be ridiculous to me.
It’s starting to seem like the problems last year weren’t just losing the Qb and x’s and o’s

Today I learned from the Syverud thread that it is not worth posting information that I get directly from the source as I did with the Syverud "retirement" move to Ann Arbor.
I will not be updating you on Gill and won't tell you what really happened with him leaving SU. I'm done with the snide comments.
I just want to add that the one that made the comment is probably the only person on the board that I know personally. While he is an overrated basketball player, he is not at all the type to make obnoxious comments. I really think it was a misunderstanding.

I'd love a DM on the reasons even if it's 4 years down the road. I'll still be here and hopefully you don't retire from posting due to board dumbfuggs doing what they do.

I realize I'm not entitled to anything but I'm obviously a big Gill supporter. Presume he just wants to ensure an earlier draft pick and/or play closer to home but I'm also projecting there and know 0.

The other issue facing some of these players, is that agents are pushing them to portal for the most $, so they get the highest commission.

Which would seem to potentially explain the circumstances here..
As other fun “fact” in today’s NIL world: some schools are striking deals with agents to pay them the fee separately, which doesn’t go against the $20.5M “salary cap.”

I get the money side of things..

but it’s kind of hard to believe or take serious that he feels “incredible allegiance” to su.

I’m sure he will miss his friends and teammates though.

Good luck to him. He’s got NFL hands and will be paid handsomely. Cap tip.

I am going to give a very general update on Gill but hold off on more until later. First of all he really wanted to stay at Syracuse. He loves Syracuse. Things just didn't go well in that direction. Money was not the driving force at all. He still plans on finishing up his degree with SU as he loves SU. He will be a remote student and I am asuming will also transfer credits in from his new school if needed. I am not exactly sure how the whole matriculation thing works with playing for another school. I am sure it will all get figured out properly.
He is down to 3 teams. He is partnered up with some big portal QBs and they will chose to go someplace together most likely. Of his current final 3 teams, 2 are in the College Football Playoff semi finals. He also heard from many other top 20 programs and for various reasons decided not to pursue those schools. Both teams playing tonight have offered him. They all consider him WR #1.
Maybe we just didn't realize what we had here.
So syracuse wanted to badly keep him, and he wanted to stay...what am I missing?

Hurts but can be replaced. Our system, when the QB’s healthy, is built for wideouts outperforming.

I wish Gill well wherever he goes. Looking at those schools, may as well call it as it is, he’s getting offered enough money where you can’t say no. There’s no shame in that. This is life changing money for families.
