Woody played 14 minutes against Niagara, 22 against Rider, 7 against Northeastern, and 6 against Buffalo

DNP vs Bryant.

Rutgers (9 min) and Georgetown (DNP) rounded out the non-con schedule.

7 games.

In a perfect world we would have had 8-9 cupcakes on the schedule plus 2-3 P5 teams. If we take care of business, there are usually plenty of minutes for the bench.

Pretty sure Dasher indicated something actually happened behind the scenes. Perhaps it stemmed from Woody's early success and his belief he should see more time though I am not sure. Hard to believe that both player and coach can't go back to remembering why the player committed in the first place and why the coaches wanted him in the first place and find common ground again.

The state of college basketball is in flux with all the new transfer rules, one & done players, the OEL, the G-League, playing oversees and the ridiculous salaries coaches are making. I loved college hoops when players stayed at least three seasons with many staying all four. So if someone wants to transfer out, go for it and let's build a team similar to fantasy football...a new one every year.

Yup. It sucks, but I get the sense nobody was really prepared with any kind of plan around what to do if he actually played well. Which he did.
Exactly. Then he got it too and never came back as everyone but Boo came back by then

From my scouting report of Woody:
The demeanor that Woody's shown for 99% of his minutes that I've seen makes me think he likely ends up a disappointment here and transfers elsewhere after not getting much playing time.
Even if Griff doesn't get a waiver, I think the current version of Woody would likely ride the pine/be a redshirt candidate next year. He needs to improve his effort level and toughness a lot; I think he's probably behind Braswell at the moment (but you never know how he might improve in the offseason).
To be fair to him, he impressed me more than I expected him to in his limited minutes this year. By the time I finished watching his high school games, I was pretty confident his spot up shooting would translate, but I was really concerned about the effort level he showed defensively and he did honestly play pretty hard at Syracuse.

Not really surprised him transferring appears to be the ultimate outcome though.

His style of play would likely be terrible for JB, especially in practice. When you look at a player like him you see a guy that’s going to get his probably take some shots outside of the offense but overall have a higher ceiling. Meanwhile a guy like Braswell just plays the game within the offense makes the right pass doesn’t do anything too well or too badly but just is. JB favors one of those types of players as a third fourth or fifth option more than the other

Yeah, I think Braswell is kinda deceptive where he'd be a player that coaches like while not really exciting fans. He has a knack for playing off teammates' drives and sliding over to open spots to give them a kick out option. He took a while to find his shot this year, but he finished the year out shooting 37% from 3 over the last 3 months. Simply putting himself in good spots for teammates and making them at that clip is enough to win over a lot of coaches. Nobody is ever going to confuse Braswell for an offensive creator, but that's what Kadary and a hopefully improved Buddy are for.

Yeah that is why I never understood the Braswell versus Southerland comparisons. James was really really good at getting to the rim even though his handle was loose at times. But he could really get there and get by people and finish and Braswell really can’t do any of that. It’s just not his game

It's kinda stupid that it likely would have been better long term had he sucked/not ever even played this season.

The two of them need to to talk to Dion Waiters.
Or to Coach Griffin who was a starter his Soph year & was asked to come off the bench his Jr. year with the promise that it would be "his team" his senior year. He's talked about how tough that was, but Hopkins got him through it & JB lived up to the promise.
