I mean, as a Dad you can tell your son that he just needs to keep busing his butt on and off the field and his time will come. Or you can give him a sense of entitlement and cry that things aren't fair. Either way, I guess.
So when your told you will get a "chance " to compete for the starting job and then you don't get a single rep you should be happy about that ? Would you if you were in that situation? Would anybody ?

Excited to see how Butler can complement ish and erv. If defenses have to plan around Butler as well, it could really open up out offense. Very, very excited.

Since TE was such a non-factor last year, adding Pierce is such an X factor as well.

He informs me everyday I don't need a video its just more frustrating to see. He will red shirt just a Shame he didn't get a single Rep not 1 with the first team to see what he can do .

If I were you I'd want him to have that red shirt year. Continue to learn and master the system, get bigger, stronger & faster. Let the OL develop and get better over the next 1-2 years, same with the DL. When it's his turn, TD will put up bat crazy video game numbers. That's the way I'd want it to play out.

Or you could transfer to Rutgers, start from Day 1, and get destroyed week in and week out. j/k

TD is the future, just gotta have a little patience. Plus I'm pretty sure the coaches know what he can do and how special he will be.

I think Pierce's presence will be felt immediately by opposing db's from what I've seen. I think Butler could be that next step to making us dominant though. Could really open up our otherwise weak rungame and take a lot of pressure off ED regarding broken plays.

I don't want to derail the thread. All I will say is that while I respect a father stepping up to defend his son (and I'm a Dad...I get it), there was something about your "not what we signed up for" post that rubbed me the wrong way. I honestly meant no disrespect, and probably should have kept my mouth shut. Believe me when I say that we cant wait for your son to put up ridiculous numbers sooner rather than later.

Dino Babers is just taking the '96 camry he inherited and turning it into a '18 Corvette before he hands it off to his QB that he recruited. TD's blessed that he's receiving a redshirt. He'll be our first big qb to have all dino's pieces ready around him.

Can't climb the depth chart when your being held back ! Not what we signed up for !

So whoever is the 2 and is just a play away from being in the game doesn't get not one Rep with the unit they play with ? And shouldn't they be judged how they play with the first team and against the first team D ?
Puzzling to me .

It would be interesting for you to read about Dungey's rise through the depth chart his freshman year. He was clearly a better thrower than Hunt (a senior, leader of the team). Different staff, but the same stuff was happening on the board. We wanted him to play with the 1's, vs the 1's. But Dungey didn't have everything he needed to be the guy. Not yet.

He was showing a lot. But supplanting a starter is being better at every facet, not just making the throws.

Dungey had to prove all of that as the #2, to get looks as the 1.

Game 1, Hunt goes down. Dungey comes in and the rest is history.

My 2 cents? Head down, get better at what the coaches are pointing to.

I'd also add - that if you're doing your job in the 2nd team O, your job is easier with the 1's if your name is called after an injury.

Balling out with the 2nd team makes your case. Playing well with the 1's? Who gets the credit? Erv and Ish, seniors.

He has had a chance to compete. He has earned lofty praise from coaches and teammates. He is steadily running with the 2's. All things that are very respectable and exciting.

With the NCAA limiting practice time, reps are limited. If they thought he was in a position to operate the 1's better than Dungey, he'd get those reps. He has competed, and well.

The 2's usually go against the D # 1's. What more of an opportunity could you ask for? To be the man you have to beat the man.

You should be telling him to transfer.

That video looked like the spring game. Two positive offensive plays in the whole segment.

No it was a high snap and a run and play
Same stuff in the scrimmage , we are not stupid . I hope he gets a real chance on Saturday

CT, patience man, patience. I'm sure he gets plenty of opportunities, just not the 3 you saw on video.

I should add that I couldn't be more excited to see this kid grow into the #1 QB in Dino's O. I think he'll break every Syracuse passing record.

He's good, Dino's good. Trust the process.

Dude, take a page out of Aaron Rodgers book and R-E-L-A-X. You can throw fuel on the fire and make TD all the more frustrated or you can keep him level headed, understanding that he will get his shot. It will come. He is the next in line. He's running with the 2's over a kid who has stared huge games for us and has a lot more experience. That, in itself, is impressive. Redshirting will be the best thing for him, and if I were you, would be excited that we can afford that luxury. Or you can hold your breath, stomp your feet, and throw a fit. It's up to you.

Frankly im surprised that he appears to be infront of Mahoney. That kid hung tough with LSU and put up...how much against Pitt?? I think that shows what Dino thinks the future holds for Tommy.

And here we're talking about a starter on the national award watch list.

The real question IMO is will he supplant Mahoney as #2

your son is going to have an amazing career at Syracuse and be a household name among college football fans in a couple of seasons - he won't be wasting a year of eligibility and his health with a partially rebuilt roster and a ridiculous schedule - when it's his turn he will have the offense mastered and have the benefit of the top end offensive talent being recruited - patience my man

Wondering if ED has taken all the reps with the 1's given the time he missed last year.

Caveat: TD should be #2 qb this year. No need to RS him, Mahoney is an "experienced gamer," but talent level is not close. And with ED's track record, TD could play a lot this season...
