DB Ja'Had Carter / Portal from Ohio State to NC State

His NC State bio is down. So dumb that they do that. His ESPN bio had him with stats in only playing 2 games for OSU.
But jus saw his OSU bio shows him participating in more games, so that OSU season does count. Unfortunately he is likely done because he played 2 snaps against us this week. That's sad.

If he even wants to stay in college I wonder if he can get a waiver for playing 4 games and 2 snaps of a 5th game? Considering it’s the NCAA, probably not.

I'm pretty sure he participated in 8 games at OSU. They had game logs up for 8 games and when you don't participate they usually don't show a game log.

I mean he already got a Covid year - I'm one of the biggest critics of the NCAA but I wouldn't give him another year. He's already played 4 full years and part of a 5th.

Yeah that is what i'm thinking is likely as well.

feel bad for the kid. He had a good situation here, likely would have been recruited over, but he could have finished his career with his initial team.
Would he have been recruited over? Wasn't he one of our best when he was here and on an NFL trajectory?

I really liked the kid, but didn’t think he was nfl material.

I think the saddest part to me is how little NC State fans seem to even care about him leaving. Most replies I’ve seen are either who..? Or they are happy he is gone. What a shame. We loved him here, his 2022 season was awesome. Wasn’t the rumor he left for like 60k at OSU? It’s wild to me that during the Dino era that was too much to keep one of the best safeties in the ACC (at the time). Feels like under Fran that’s a deal that would’ve gotten done in about 30 seconds. Oh well. Wish him nothing but the best. Also correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think he played in over 4 games this season. So I am assuming this is in part to preserve his last year of eligibility?

Dino was a victim of NIL (at least in his mind). Fran banged the drum and brought the energy necessary to get the wheels turning and use NIL to the advantage a program like ours can.

He’s played in 5 games this year according to stats and would be out of eligibility. Sad.

Oh wow. Wonder where this is coming from then. Logic says you wouldn’t cut your career short on purpose but who knows what’s really going on. Hope it all works out for him.

Cam Rising can get an 8th year. Seems, but he can't get another year if he wants one?

Hopefully he has a degree, believe kid came from a rough background. He was good here but I don’t think he was a legit NFL prospect but we will probably never know

I think taking one secondary player back is enough and he didn't play well enough to stay on the field at either school. Hope he made a few bucks and is able to find somewhere to play next year if he even wants to keep playing.

"Don't let NIL get in the way of the NFL." That OSU bag was a pittance of what he could earn even as a NFL practice squad player. I thought his trajectory was going to be like Garrett Williams. The grass isn't always greener.

Agree 100%! This message needs to be discussed with the players. Both Deuce and J. Carter, left a starting situation at the Cuse, to go to bigger programs, and neither of them had success. If you can play, the NFL will find you! Let me say it a little louder for the people in the back: If you can PLAY!!!! The NFL WILL FIND YOU!

I can't really blame Jahad (or Deuce) for trying to compete at the highest levels of college football. I don't think playing at Syracuse is roughing it by any stretch of the imagination, but the resources, coaching, and facilities at places like that are second to none. It just stinks it didn't work out for him - he seems like a great dude and thought he was a terrific player here

I don't think he was close to Garrett Williams. He was a good player, who made some big plays for us, but probably gambled too much (both on defense in coverage and by going to OSU). Stinks - because I really liked him as a player. Wish he would have remained Orange.

I am pretty sure I read on this board that Carter's family is not well off and thought I had read a big reason going to Ohio state was to help that family situation out. Maybe it was earlier in this thread but if that is true, I can kinda understand maybe why he did it.
