Also, if he can’t start at Ohio State, he’s not making it in the NFL anyway. No amount of playing time at SU is going to change that.I definitely agree with your point, but as I remember, there were a few reputable posters who mentioned at the time that Ja'Had had pretty significant immediate needs to help his family that might have made even the most rational of us think short term instead of long term.
It’s never been about the education unfortunately.I have no idea how guys are able to graduate with so many transfers. Typically, schools can only take in X% credits towards a degree per specific state laws. Maybe they just won't graduate?
Wasn’t there an article that Fran sees Deuce as an NFL safety? To be honest I would love to have him here, slot him at saftey and move Duce back to corner. But the coaches know far better than me
Joe Burrow disagrees. Also, if he can’t start at Ohio State, he’s not making it in the NFL anyway. No amount of playing time at SU is going to change that.
and we don't know if it was a "small" pay day or legit cash. We also don't know what his NFL future was. We would all take the cash.I definitely agree with your point. Yeah I think Fran said the move was best for the longevity of his career. Viewing it from a purely fan perspective though, Duce is a little small and a tad slow in that deep safety position. That would fit Carter's game much better, and he had a hell of a 2022 season here in a similar type of role. Duce's best moments of his career have been playing outside corner, he got picked apart in the slot at LSU last year (at least when I watched). Corner is also IMO the weakest unit on our team, and Duce could really help that unit, so that's why bringing Carter back would make sense to me. But like I said the coaches see these guys every day and know far more than I know, I am merely sharing my thoughts.Wasn’t there an article that Fran sees Deuce as an NFL safety?
I agree that scouts will use that as a knock against Jahad, but if he produces at his next stop then scouts won't ignore that tape. Also, if he can’t start at Ohio State, he’s not making it in the NFL anyway. No amount of playing time at SU is going to change that.
I agree unless Ja’had is completely shot from injuries he almost certainly would be better at the position.Yeah I think Fran said the move was best for the longevity of his career. This is how the transfer portal works itself out. Dude left a sure starting position to play in 8 games with five total tackles. I hope he finds a soft landing spot. I'd love to take him back, but I'm not sure we have room on the roster for him.
Marvin Harrison Jr., in his post draft interview, responded to a question about why he was successful, said something along this line: "I went to the football facility every day to work on my game, and I never left".I have no idea how guys are able to graduate with so many transfers. In today's world, academic records and performance are completely irrelevant in big time college athletics - unfortunately.Marvin Harrison Jr., in his post draft interview, responded to a question about why he was successful, said something along this line: "I went to the football facility every day to work on my game, and I never left".
Would luv to see his Ohio St academic record and talk with his professors.
'Had is one of my personal favorites in recent memory. Hopefully the move works for him (except that one game obviously) and he gets drafted.Would have liked to have him back. Wonder if there was interest either way.
Ja'Had, good luck at NCST, except against us of course.
I thought he was one of the most improved players in the entire ACC 2 years ago. He’s a playmaker which is always hard to find. He made big plays and had an easy opportunity for a pick 6 (Against BC I believe?) that probably would have upped him to 2nd team all-ACC. I was totally bummed that he left because I thought he was that good and the guys we brought in didn’t do it for me when compared to losing Ja’Had and Duce. I don’t feel that way this year as I feel we brought in a much higher level of portal transfers, including the defensive backfield, and i’m not sure how much wear and tear from injuries have slowed him down. All things equal, I would take a healthy Ja’Had over Duce every day, especially at their current positions, but i’m sure prior relationship, and first come first serve took the choice out of it. It’s in the past now, but I would like to know who advises these kids on these potential life changing decisions. With his size and speed he easily could have been a late round draft pick this season if he built on his prior season. I really doubt he got that much more money from tOSU than he would have received from SU. It was a big gamble and right now he is on the losing side. I despise NC St, but I hope he has a great season and gets drafted.'Had is one of my personal favorites in recent memory. That said, we have the QB that saw him every day in practice last season. Would imagine if he got rave reviews Fran would have full court pressed. Either that or 'Had leaving Cuse was non football related and he simply didn't find returning desirable or perhaps he would've full court pressed Fran? For whatever reason it wasn't meant to be sadly.
This isn’t going to be the Syracuse he left
