There could be a million reasons that Jeremiah is leaving and none of us really know why. Could have family issues, a sick relative, or maybe he just wants to be closer to home. Whatever it is, I wish him the best.

These guys need to find their next school NOW and be enrolled for the start of the 2nd semester. Can’t do an adequate search, do visits, etc. while you're still playing. Also spots will fill up fast, if you wait too long there might not be a seat at the table for them.

I think in the age of immediate eligibility, if you have talent and it looks like you might not start, you look elsewhere.

Really promising players who are the next man up and are guaranteed a lot of playing time will still choose to go elsewhere if it looks like they are not going to start the season as a starter.

It really puts a premium on having quality depth. But quality depth leads to transfers.

Catch 22. I am glad I am not a college football coach right now. It has to be maddening.

It also hurts your teammates and of course, the staff, especially while preparing for a bowl game. Has to be a distraction at the least, make it more difficult to prepare. All of a sudden, a bowl game isn’t a big deal for these kids?

Makes me think that they know their destination already or are getting pressure from their new team to declare now threatening them with losing a spot. Otherwise why not just tell the staff, keep it private, but be prepared to play in the game with your teammates. Am I missing some other facets that make these early portal announcements public right before a bowl game a good move? Why not wait 3 weeks? Like getting out of practice and heading to the new destination well before 2nd semester? I’m probably dumb or naive about this stuff.

Welcome to the new normal. Perhaps it will settle down after people realize the portal isn’t always the answer. Perhaps not. Personally, I’ve never had any luck changing lines at the grocery store.

Yup people have to realize its musical chairs now. Your favorite player might transfer just because he can. It gives both parties a chance to put themselves in a better situation.
